I listened to a Vaad podcast episode with Vivek Agnihotri and in that he was talking about what it means to be anti-establishment. First you have to identify what is establishment. It's a good discussion. Check it out.

They should do a podcast on this subject with a special focus on west bengal. In the last 10 years, west bengal government forced three editors of Anandabazar Patrika, the most circulated daily in Bengali, to resign. One editor of the Statesman had to resign because of pressure. The editor made this allegation in public (during an interview with arambag TV) and described how the government officials forced the management to make hi resign. Not only the editors, any journalists who have criticized the state government are forced out by withholding the government advertisement money until the authority fall in line. With people working in all-India news organizations, even if they are sacked, are capable of finding alternate employment. But people reporting in vernacular languages are really vulnerable. No national media reported this issue in Bengal extensively. There are allegations on camera how the state government directed media houses about whom to recruit and whom to sack. The chief minister said on camera in a district meeting how the local media should do "positive" news if they wish to get government advertisement and also admitted how she instructed officials regarding this. I made a video, but it hardly got any views.

Press Freedom Index produced by Reporters Sans Frontier, and many similar indices, have two components. One component is based on objective data. Two is based on subjective ranking provided by a selection of journalists from the respective countries. How much weight on is given to each component is not clear? And how are journalists picked to provide subjective inputs.

At an actionable level i would say it is we all who are responsible. Though you guys (both KM & ARK and others like you) have been making the effort not to be a blind follower of any person in particular. Darbari tattoos - is an accurate metaphor used for the Editors Guild. The Nehruvian- Marxist rule is the greatest and the most feudal and the most successful of all the feudal enterprises in the world. Other feudal enterprises existed in pre- industrial era, this one continued to exist and prosper even though n the industrial era. Previous feudal enterprises were localised phenomena, but this one managed to exist and prosper on a national scale. Previous feudal enterprises rarely criticized other feudal rivals for being well "feudal'. This one remarkably without batting an eyelid with a straight face went on chastising all others as feudal. Most remarkably, this feudal also got itself christened a Democratic, constitutional modern enterprise. And they had loyalists installed in all walks to hail them as such. But as much i may criticize them, they could not have succeeded without us being the other side of the feudal bargain. The regime indicated that loyalty will not go unnoticed and unrewarded. And they managed to find such loyalists from amongst ourselves in every walk of life - business, academic, colleges, universities, bureacracy, police, judiciary, journalism, performing arts and even science. The greatest of inventors don't claim the credit for bringing in Science the way Nehru is supposed to have brought science to India it never occured to question that if the people weren't willing to take to science, Nehru could have done nothing In all walks of life they managed to find such loyalists singing praise of a new modern progressive, democratic constitutional enterprise. I am sure Idi Amin and Kim Jong Un also could declare and themselves constitutional. For if a Constitution is amended 3 times ever 2 years, then that would seem to indicate an Idi Amin or Kim Jong Un constitution. Those running the show pretty much did what they wanted, if the Constitution stood in the way, they simply amended the Constitution and did what they wanted anyway. But unlike the Nehru-Gandhi Marxist order, idi Amin and Kim Jong Un may not manage to be hailrd as constitutional democrats. They did not have the "well educated', sophisticated loyalists like we had. A Manmohan Singh would demand to be respected for his Oxford education, but will now down to the feudal hirelings and nothing would seem amiss. The darbari tatto loyalists in the field of media is what the Editors Guild look like. We the people cannot escape the responsibility for this
