If you use UE 5.4 just replace "Input"-Node with "Get Landscape Data"-Node. Input node can be skipped in this case.

Bro, thank you so much. You have no idea how hard it was for me on version 5.1, I'm a complete self-taught person, but I love it all. Before I quit studying the engine, I just burned out from the endless need to search for information, which is somewhere in the most remote and forgotten corner of the Internet in a single copy. Your video inspired me to come back, because procedural generation closes more than half of the problems I encountered and couldn't solve for a month or more. Only I wish I could ask you to dwell more on blueprints, it's a very important part, but in my opinion you showed that point too quickly and superficially.
@badxstudio
@badxstudio Жыл бұрын
Hey buddy! Thank you so much for the love. We are so glad this inspired you to come back to it all. Just like you mentioned this video barely scratched the surface for what is possible with procedural generation! There are 100000s of more settings to play with to create complex worlds. We wanted to keep this video simple but I promise you will see more entertaining and educational content pieces on blueprints coming from us soon

You are great. I am VERY new at this and wanted to make a desert landscape. I go back and forth between basic shortcuts/learning the beginning stuff AND going through what you put out there. I DO have to put you at 0.5 speed to catch a few things that apparently everyone else knows. You are great and one of my resources for learning this stuff. Thank you.

Nature is not random, nor regular, it´s nature, the result of billions of years and tons of matter / energy interacting under some laws. An that´s what the AI has learnt. By the way, your work is very good.

@joxemik
@joxemik Жыл бұрын
@@badxstudio I think the question is what will be the limitations in that process. First the physical limitation in the calculation, we use certain mathematical techniques in computation, and these produce a natural limit. Second the 'natural' limitations, just like a dog can't learn math, we human have limitations, and AIs will. Time is the third limitation, how much time do you need to compute that? It is magical how human beings extract the essence of a thing or concept, to be able to specify and summarize the content in what is really important. Perhaps the biggest challenge of AI is learning just this, as a modeler knows what elements to place or not in his scenes to make them look real. And then being able to apply processing power to that, and not to superfluous things that don't add anything. The spaniard painter D. Velázquez was famous for painting in a careless manner in his mature years, he was not in the habit of giving excessive detail when painting, but when the work is viewed from a distance, these 'poorly painted' details come to life much more realistically than those of other painters, who tried to represent reality with fanatical accuracy. Something like this will end up happening with AIs, they will learn to show us what is necessary for our brain to see something 'real'. So I think we'll get to tremendous levels of realism and detail. In human terms, perhaps we can say almost perfect. (I'm answering from my real account, I don't know why I logged in from another account that I don't usually use, regards).
@badxstudio
@badxstudio Жыл бұрын
@@joxemik Wow I love the Velazquez example you told us about! So interesting to think about it that way! The fact that you mentioned AI will learn to show us what is necessary for our brain to perceive something as "Real"! That is 100% what is going to happen. Thanks for sharing that insight with us. hahaha its all good man! Your name is joe? It's nice to meet you! Make sure to join our discord channel. Would love to have a chat with u there!! @eepycaleb
@eepycaleb 7 ай бұрын
@@onsotul713 For anyone coming back to this, putting the TP node after the Surface Sampler node doesn't work since the way UE generates PCG, it takes each point, gets the transform done, then applies the mesh to the point. I am curious to know if you really did have it work for you that way though!

when you add it as the component to actor, to spawn with a grid tile (for example) this thing does nothing, it's just for placing on the level, no flexibility when it gets to procedural or random generation
