Only just noticed I accidentally have an image of the end result randomly pop up at 11:40 and cover the node set-up😅All I did was move the frame so luckily you won’t miss any steps

You don't know how many tutorials show "ctrl+shift+click" to view a specific node, but don't explicitly say it. I've wondered for an entire year how people did that and you said it right away. I also appreciate how you verbally state every parameter you change and what the value is changed to. It makes it very easy for me to just listen to the audio and follow along with out having to flip back to the video. You're either a naturally good presenter or you put a lot of thought into how you present the material... it's much appreciated.

So many of Blender's procedural shader tutorials end up with materials that have this cheap noise texture look to them, so coming across one where the end result looks like it was worked on by a professional in Substance Designer is truly a welcomed treat! Please make more of these! The Blender community really needs more quality content to represent it. That wood material is 🔥🔥🔥

For Musgrave Texture now Noise Texture is Roughness = Lacunarity - Dimension. So you have to set Roughness to 1 to get same noisy texture at 2:16 part.

Been trying for months to get a good wood grain texture, this is the first to make me audibly say "oh damn that's good" multiple steps of the way. Very clever, very simple, excellent work. Going to try and combine it with a brick texture for wood planks and see how that works!

At 10:24 I plugged in my "Object" coordinates into a vector math node that scaled my vectors down to 0.14 x the original, and it looks very similar to the UV coordinates. It's definitely just the scale.

Great tutorial, for the last node group id suggest you to add a noise before the musgrave. otherwise it looked a bit too linear for me! keep it up
@erinpatrickdunn13 ай бұрын
Sorry, but since musgrave textures have been deprecated in blender, the best you're going to get is to take a noise texture, set it to 3D multifractal, turn detail to 15 and roughness to 1, and attach a color ramp to get it to look the same. I usually consider any instruction set using the old musgrave texture as invalid and unusable at this point.

Hi Lachlan, just tried on Gumroad, I think a few bucks don't bankrupt me, and the amount of time this could save on my day is HUGE! Getting to this level of accuracy is a time wasting procedure! Nice job! I just subscribed your Gumroad page, so I'll notice if you make any more of these great looking materials! (would you please do a plastic material?)
