I worked for a contractor for Lime scooters. They provide the a sprinter type van and pay $15 an hour. Now their ad said full-time 8-hour shifts. I had to pick up a van at one location drive it to another location where the warehouse was. Then I would scan at least 90 scooters and push them over to the loading dock and I would pack the van full myself (which was okay) then drive to the various locations on the app which is nice and drop off the scooters in the designated locations. This whole process would take me six and a half hours including lunch. But then management would say I was taking too long loading the scooters. And I would say back what's the problem I've still got a lot of time to deliver them, and they would say they know but you're spending too much time at the warehouse. They want you to bust your ass scanning and loading the scooters at the warehouse so when you get out on the road it won't take long to deliver them. You see that full-time 8 hours was bulshit the contractor wants you to do the whole job and six and a half hours so they could make more money from the contract. That's the part I didn't like.

James Rowland KLR Transportation well then he would have much larger concerns than a little fire claim that destroys an old truck. Having an accident with a subsequent million dollar lawsuit would be much worse than burning down a 15 year old truck
@Halfstep20245 жыл бұрын
Alex1911 right.. hence why this is a terrible idea because I guarantee you none of these people are smart enough to establish an LLC no less get commercial insurance. Meaning any accident had on the job is going to fall squarely on their shoulders personally. None of it whatsoever will fall on the company they are contracting for. Now they may not be contractors I really don’t know I just don’t see how these companies would do it any other way. If they aren’t contractors and they actually work for these companies then I’m sure there’s a corporate insurance policy that covers them in case of accidents. At least until they find out whoever it was had 40 chargers charging lipo batteries at residential locations. Then it would be another nightmare all together.
@Halfstep20245 жыл бұрын
Ok just looked it up, they are 1099 paid contractors for now. But the ones in California won’t be much longer as Cali just blew that business practice completely out of the water. For reasons exactly like this. Big companies are using the ignorance of “contractors” ie.. broke millennials and zoomers, who don’t know any better. To reduce overall cost and risk associated with doing business for themselves by putting all the risk onto unsuspecting morons who just see it as “hey I’ve got vehicle, I’ve got insurance, I’ve got power! I have everything I need to make money!” When in reality that’s fine until some shit goes down then their entire life gets ruined.
