Climbing has been the driving force in Chris Sharma’s life for over 20 years now, from establishing North America’s first 8c+ at the age of 15, to putting up the world’s first 9a+. Chris has bolted and sent what remains one of the world’s toughest problem, La Dura Dura (9b+), and has been instrumental in advancing the sport of climbing and guiding it in a positive direction.
Not just a sponsored athlete, Chris recently became somewhat of an entrepreneur, opening his own bouldering gym in Barcelona. Stepping out of his comfort zone, he's trying to create something unique and give back to the sport he loves.
Chris has been a guiding force in the development of Santa Linya climbing over the past 10 years, now considered one of the world’s toughest sport climbing destinations. In this episode of Epic Climber, Sasha, Edu and Adam watch on as Chris goes through the process of putting up a brand new route, without even knowing if it’s technically possible.

"Climbing and who I am, as a person, are almost inseparable. " RIIIIGHT! You and me both, buddy! Ever since I got the guts to lead past 5.10 bulges and roofs, I couldn't stay away from the cliffs! I'm sending 5.12 on 45 degree overhangs, now! Climb on!

@@Bsmd25 I got a 12d on my third try, same day. That was some very proud work. 13a is a broad step from 5.12, for some reason. I think it's just the mental game you get yourself stuck in, really. It's just a couple of V6 boulder problems with some easier endurance climbing. What matters is a feature or style that makes you fall in love, then it's not work anymore.

@@phutton88 yeah, the mental side of climbing can be a really big part of why people struggle to climb harder. In reality a 13a is pretty much just a hard 12d, but because those numbers switch we psych ourselves out mentally and struggle to climb it
