Dorodango | 泥だんご
'Dorodango' literally means 'Mud Dango' in Japanese. If you've seen dango, It's a pretty accurate description IMO.
You just need dirt and water to make it.
I guess that's obvious considering that's what mud is.
From now on, I'm going to collect dirt from places I travel to and make a dorodango out of it.

@@zixvirzjghamn737 they would never get to this same state, it was just me making as close to perfect spheres of sand as I could to kill time at the beach. would make a bunch of then and stack them into pyramids to leave for someone else to find.

very cool :] though as a PSA if you're going to make them with dirt from other places, you may want to sterilize the soil with heat (oven/maybe a microwave) before making dorodango with it, soil can have things like fungal spores or diseases that you may not want to bring back to your home country. (or, depending on agricultural/import laws around soil, that you actually can't bring back)

Isnt this a form of traditional Japanese art? If so it would be cool to use them as ball for a game similar to lacrosse 🥍 where you play as per normal with modified nets and a rule where theres a sort of penalty to breaking the ball. It would create a way to make money from these polished dirt balls. (I was just thinking about how maybe these were just misinterpreted historically and if they were actually used to play games with and thought this would be neat)

Hey! I love making dorodangos. I thought about making them from places ive travelled too, but right now I just make one whenever I feel like.

I recommend taking it out of the bag every few hours and flipping the bad so that it isnt kept in moisture. And when I'm adding sand again, if its starts to crack I just immediately seal the cracks and let it rest again until they no longer form. I have found that doing these two things makes them more even and smooth

It kind of reminds me of a planet being made. On the dry parts it started to crack like the tectonic plates. And even tho it seems pretty smooth. The little bumps and crevasses on the ball would be literal mountains and canyons if it was a planet
