It is a cigar festival that is run by Procigar, the association of cigar producers in the Dominican Republic. The tickets are sold directly on the Procigar website every year.

Yeah man it was truly unforgettable! The festival in its entirety is about $2300 dollars, so it is pricey, but you get more than half of that value back in cigars to take home and of course all the experiences too.

Can you speak to Eladio Diaz and the Kelners departure from Davidoff and how that may affect Davidoff.

I spoke for a long time to Henke Keller at the festival actually, but I didn't ask him about this to avoid being insensitive. I think Davidoff want to be more experimental, though, and move away from some of the more traditional blends and classic tastes that the Kelners and Eladio have been part of. They have been doing a lot of marketing recently and the new people in the company are very young, so we should be seeing some experimental stuff in the future I think!

What are the prices of Davidoffs in Dominican compared to your home town

I didn't buy any Davidoffs there as we got so many from the tour, but the prices aren't that much lower. Davidoff need to technically export and then import the cigars back to the DR so the prices aren't too low. The ones that are really low are Fuente and all the other Procigar members!

How much was the tour

The entire festival itself is around $2500. You can buy a ticket for individual tours for a few hundred dollars too if you just want one tour during the festival. These factories are not open to the public regularly though, so you can't just book a Davidoff tour anytime when the Procigar festival isn't taking place.
