Procter & Gamble, a consumer products company, entered TV production in 1951 when the soap opera Search for Tomorrow premiered on NBC. As Procter & Gamble is known for their cleaning products, this is where the term "soap opera" came from.

PGP Logo. Such Nostalgia. Reminds me of coming home from school in the afternoon back in the 90s, seeing the cbs soaps, especially guiding light with my mother (R.I.P) and grandparents (R.I.P). Great Memories.

I remember seeing this logo when I was a really little kid. Saw it all the time when my mom watched soap operas (she stopped watching them when I was 7 years old). Usually saw the short version with the four notes jingle at the end (sometimes saw the longer one).

actually proctor and gamble productions started in 1986. What you are referring to is their longest soap opera GUIDING LIGHT that was on CBS for 72 years and it started as a radio show for the first 15 years of the show then 50 years on TV but it's cancelled now due to low ratings and no one else wanted it after CBS SOLD IT IN 2009 .
