Looking forward to seeing this build. I have a 2020 XR650L and I've done quite a bit to it already... using several ProCycle parts of course. Looking forward to the carb and suspension upgrades especially! Really looking forward to changing it up some more, but I love this bike for what it is...a "Thumper"!

That's awesome and thank you for choosing ProCycle to shop with. There's nothing like a good thumper!

Hemisphere off-road has a lot of great parts. Possibly the best skid plate available for the XR 650L.

Additionally, they have a great subframe support. It’s extremely easy to install. The oiler coolers, from what most people say in the XR 650L group on Facebook, adds very little benefit.

Thanks for the great information! We'll be sure to check them out.

Excited about this one! Former TW owner who traded for a 2011 XR650L and have now done a bunch of upgrades. Can’t wait to see what you do!

That's a big trade UP. Literally. Haha Stick around as we have been working with companies before this release and have some cool things making their way down the pike.

I have a 2020 XR650L. Quite a bit has already been done to it. For example, it already has the DG RST muffler on it with the stock headers but I like it. I will be following this build pretty closely. I am an older rider at 72. So for the tighter more technical stuff, I am riding a Kawi KLX300. But I love the Honda so much I cannot get rid of it and love to take it out on fire roads or forest service roads or in the more open desert. I have a lowering link on it but if there is a way to lower it even more, that would be awesome! I appreciate what you guys are doing. Can't wait for future videos.

Thank you for watching the video and it seems like you've got a good plan with the smaller / lighter bike for the more technical stuff and the XRL for the more open terrain riding. As of recent, we do have a standard & low shock option available for the XR650L from Cogent. We are just trying to get a production run complete and a couple minor (non shock related) details ironed out before we can get it listed on our website. They will be available for purchase in the next couple of weeks.

Super excited about this project! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the desert legend! I’d like to see it made better for both on and off road use, so looking forward to the next installment!

We're excited too! This bike has a lot of history behind it, and we want to do it right. So, it will be a fun project to find a balance of off-road & street performance. Stay tuned as we have new parts & old returning to the market.

Awesome! Talk about a tried and true machine if there's ever been one! The DR and XR650 are a dirt bike mechanics dream. Usually nothing but good ole service work. We call it "gravy" I was thinking since Honda's slogan is ride red or was, and you plan to maybe take it to baja, maybe the name "Rojo" :)
@TeamProCycle10 ай бұрын
These classic thumpers are a mechanics dream for sure. Not having to deal with the coolant system every time you touch the motor is god sent. lol "Rojo" has a nice ring to it, almost rooools off the tongue. Haha

There’s some info online about swaping internals with a European model to bring second gear down from how tall it is. Would love to see that done
@TeamProCycle10 ай бұрын
We'll have to look into that, thank you for the tip!

@@TeamProCycle if you search “Honda xr650l second gear” on KZbin there should be a couple videos that pop right up explaining it and even providing part numbers

If you guys are sticking with the red theme you could call it Clifford the big red dog. Hahaha. Looking forward to seeing updates on this bike for sure. Iam also short 5’4” and would love to see what you guys can come up with.
@TeamProCycle9 ай бұрын
Haha, that's a great name for the big red thumper. Stay tuned as we are actively working on options to lower the XR650L and thanks for watching!
