The point of the spacers is to connect each bearing together so you can tighten your nut all the way down on the wheel and the wheel can still spin freely. That way there is no play in the bearing which makes them last longer. I find spacers to be inconsistent in them actually being the right size to work (or maybe it’s just spitfire wheels) but when they work how their supposed to they’re super cool.

Hey Paul the bearing spacer is so you can tighten the nut all the way down and have zero tolerance. It will put force on the center bearing race rather than the outer so it will still spin freely with the nut torqued. Most cars use this setup but honestly it's not necessary for skateboards 😂
@drill4408 Жыл бұрын
So no matter how hard u i tighten it will still spin freely? I ask bc i have new bearings
@archery.customs Жыл бұрын
@Drill yes it still matters you can still over tighten them with the spacer. Typically the spacers don't fit perfectly in the wheel so it just depends on what brands are used together. Just tighten slowly and check it you should be able to get no back and forth play but still spin freely.
@drill4408 Жыл бұрын
@@archery.customs with the spacers do they increase speed at all?
@archery.customs Жыл бұрын
@Drill There more of an alignment thing they won't increase speed for normal skaters but if you plan on longboarding at high speeds then they will benefit you.
@RoyChewbacca Жыл бұрын
He literally has his own bearing company (which he isn't using) and he doesn't know what spacers are for? Come on brah.... 🙃 The trouble with spacers is that the wheel tolerances generally suck too much to make them work properly

I switched from 8.25 to 8.125 and Venture 5.6 Hi to Venture 5.2 Low. I switched the top bushings to Venture loose trucks top bushings and I changed the top bushing washer to a thinner bones top washer so I could put the kingpin nut way lower and I could grind the left over kingpin threads and it would be as low as the highs but I got no tools for it haha but I can skate rails way easier now and I have bottom medium bones bushing too with the stock top washer (Bones bottoms are conical shape) so they actually turn more smoothly and have more clearance as the stock truck 🫡

The spacers are for your wheel to rest or roll on inside the wheel , when one side or one of the bearing blows out your still be able to roll away. Or keep rollin’ atleast , if rocking no spacers , they’ll help keep ya rolling instead , of your wheel rolling completely off if there’s a blow out or one bearing goes missing.

Hey homie, I've been a fan since I was a kid. I remember begging my mom for your 3rd show and being so excited that I went to bed with them. The spacer for the bearings inside the wheel reinforces the wheel. This way, when you're going fast and landing hard, the bearings stay in place while the wheel is bending. It also allows you to tighten the nut on your wheel because the wheel can spin independently. Crazy to think of all the crazy tricks you've done without the spacers in the wheel. Big Love

I think sometimes, the wheel hardly spins if the axle is tightened too much. Spacers help prevent this problem by sitting between the bearings and taking the pressure off the tightening axle.
