As a boom bap producer, my biggest concern is that I don’t have enough going on in my beats. I’m working on adding counter Melodies so the same 4 bar loop doesn’t play throughout the song. Dope video.

I make House, EDM, Techno type stuff and most of this applies to my world as well which just confirms your point about genre exploration. For me the biggest point you made is about saving your custom presets. In Ableton it's Instrument Racks and it's a life saver. Save in the VST as well for double flexibility. Nice video 👍

Thank you for sharing these gems! Def agree with you! Especially with the remaking beats thing and comparing to reference songs! I fee like remaking beats really stepped my game up. Two years ago i tried to remake Beautiful by Eminem, i didnt really manage to do so, but still i improved. Now few days ago someone asked me for a custom beat and the reference was Beautiful again! So my second try now worked really well, the rapper was super satisfied with the outcome, and me too :) Ofc i had to put in the work but im pretty sure i benefited from tryin to remake this beat before!
