WHAT IS A WIND TURBINE
Wind energy, like other renewable energy sources, is used extensively in electricity generation. ... The wind formed as a result of the temperature differences of the air currents provides the energy of movement by providing the force to turn the propeller in the turbine. Motion energy is converted into electrical energy with the help of a generator.
How Does the Alternator Work?
Electricity generation is the change of form of energy. If you have mechanical energy, you can convert this mechanical energy into electrical energy. For this, all you need is an electric generator.
Generators basically consist of an armature and a stator. It can consist of armature and stator windings, or the stator can be designed with a permanent magnet.
The logic of the operation of an electric machine is most fundamentally explained by the laws of induction and lenz. According to the law of induction, the flux coming perpendicular to the plane formed by a conductor remaining in the magnetic field causes voltage at the ends of the conductor. According to Lenz's law, if a conductor remaining in the magnetic field is moved at a certain speed, a voltage occurs between the two ends of the conductor. For more detailed information about these basic laws, you can read the article titled Induction (Faraday) Law and Lenz's Law.
The stator of the alternator is the source of electric field. If the stator consists of coil windings, a magnetic field is created by an external source through the coils. Or, by placing permanent magnets on the stator, the magnetic field is created by permanent magnets
