Beacon 23 is the typical product of the post-modernist era and apes off the success of J.J. Abrams' Lost in so much as it is merely a "Mystery Box" plot without any satisfactory conclusion (even to the first season which literally ends with an ambiguous cliff hanger) designed to allow them to make a second season without the lead actress should she bail on this obvious turd. For anyone who liked this show, I must ask a few simple questions: Stephan James' character is called "Halan." But in episode 2 the name on his "battery" box is "Sgt. Kai Neilsen." Is this a continuity error? Is this not his box? Is his name really Kai? We learn that Halan was in a battle and the "mystery box" compelled him to desert and to travel "85 thousand solar systems" distance to Beacon 23. Why? What is Halan's connection to the Mystery Box? What was the Mystery Box's connection to Halan? Why was the Mystery Box at the battle? What was being fought for at the battle? What were the two sides in the battle? Was QTA one of the sides? Is ISA and QTA rivals? Is ISA the government? Is, is, is, is.....the list of unanswered questions about the main characters, the side-characters, the factions, and the state of the political landscape is nearly infinite because the show told us almost nothing. Now imagine after seeing all 8 episodes you go back and tell someone the actual story. It would take you about 10 minutes. There is not even close to 6 hours of story here. There is not even close to 6 hours of character development here. Aster: Works for QTA. Who's QTA? Not sure. What's Aster's job? Criminal? Agent? Undercover agent posing as criminal? Not sure. Aster has a connection to the Mystery Box because it spoke to her as a child. Why? Don't know. Aster seems to have forgotten all about the Mystery Box from her childhood except now she remembers everything. When did that happen? Off-screen? That's really all you know about these characters except Aster might be a lesbian or bi-sexual since somewhere between episode 7 or 8 she became romantically connected to Halan. I think but I don't know because they didn't show any of that. For all I know, in true mystery box fashion, they will turn out to be siblings.

From wiki, Stephan James is a Canadian actor. After starring in a string of television series as a teenager, he rose to prominence upon winning a Canadian Screen Award for Best Actor for his role as track and field sprinter Jesse Owens in the 2016 film Race. I thought your comment was weird. Then I looked into it and found your comment to be crazy.

the worst sci fi tv series in the last decade ... don't waste your time watching any episodes.... the plot is convoluted and disjointed with terrible writing wasting the talent of Lena headey. It's unwatchable in every way. pure garbage
