The original song was sung by Dianne Reeves and this was a popular hit during the late 80s here in the Philippines. When Dianne Reeves came to perform here, she was surprised that the audience requested this song which was not even a hit in the U.S. during its run. It just shows that Filipinos also love soul and R&B.

Gigi de Lana was a singer/contestant in a noontime show first before she embraced acting. I think she launched her YT channel during the pandemic for obvious reasons. I believe singing is her first love. I love her too, not only because she sings so well but she is drop dead gorgeous!

React to Sinatra's Fly me to the moon. They gave it their own flavor and hear her scat too! And yap, they've got their own stuff. She has her own album, all original songs written and composed by Gigi herself and the band. But most songs are in Filipino but there are I think 2 songs in English. Its just that Gigi is more loved for her covers and well known for her livestreams where she does live requests from viewers and sings them on the spot. She's actually been dubbed as the queen of covers. 😂 She does great covers and can basically sing just about anything. From one genre to another, from old classics by the likes of Sinatra, Tom Jones, Nat King Cole etc. to the most recent ones. She just jumps from one timeline to another like its the most common thing in the universe. 😂

About original songs, the band released an album last year & it's on Spotify. The songs are pop rock and are mostly in Filipino language. One of their original songs that I like is First Night. There's a music video of it, but if u react to it, I don't know if u will get a copyright strike. It's on the Star Music youtube channel. As for her acting, this is pretty new for her. She was in a supporting role in a movie, & then last year she got the lead role in a romantic comedy mini series. She's mutli-talented, she also knows how to dance.

Filipinos are used to performing in front of everyone. This is because of family and town functions are always having a karaoke session no matter what they may be. They have no formal singing lessons because they can’t afford one. They learn from each other and practice anytime right in front of an audience at their disposal, singing their hear out. Their surroundings is one giant open singing studio. Even before the karaoke invention, a group of teenagers will always have one person with a guitar and have a jam session. In the older generation, the men would bring a guitar and serenade the lady they would like to date. This is called “Harana” meaning serenade.
