This principle works nicely for kicks snares etc. cause they fundamental is fixed. For vocals bass keys etc, the fundamental changes continuously. The low mids of a vocal usually houses both the vocal energy (thickness/fullness) and muddy ness. So you need to really use your ears... else you may boost the “fundamental” for thickness and end up with a muddy vocal. Tip: dynamic eq is your friend 👍

Exactly! Also, you can widen the Q to grab more of the “changing fundamental” and use a second EQ to control the muddiness. I use a dynamic EQ for this a lot! Vocals are tricky, which makes them so much fun
