the most important factor is whether or not, when there's not much natural light, the rlcd still easy on the eyes as the eink?

I personally love it for reading manga and PDFs at night, it's been fantastic an easy on the eyes. With the eyemoo, there is a sweet spot, so if you stay there I'd say it's very similar to eink, if you're out of it, then you might feel a bit of strain because the light isn't even across the screen. That's a big caveat, just the poor design of a first generation device, but the technology itself seems great to me.

Not it does not. Only cool color light, no warm color.

Hey Guys. I bought an eyemoo S1 4 days ago and they haven't shipped it yet, They don't respond to my emails either. Do you know anything else, is it a scam? What do you recommend I do?

Hey, I wouldn't be too worried about it at 4 days. I get the feeling the Eyemoo team is pretty small and frankly a little unprofessional. They stink at replying to emails for example, but I don't think they're a scam.

If you can find someone who speaks Mandarin, they respond quickly on their Mandarin Facebook page. I bought one through their Chinese website Nov 2023 and communicaion was quick, but email communication in English doesn't seem to go through.

That's great to know! I'm really annoyed by their stylus bug, it's the one thing holding it back for me personally, so I just sent them a quick message. Thanks!

I have the Boox Note Air 3 C and I installed a lot of apps on it. I think it's really a matter of the use case. I bought my Samsung S7 mainly for note taking back in 2020. I wanted to read with it but it soon turned out to be annoying. My Note Air 3c is much better at note taking, and can do just about anything else. I use my Guitar Tabs app, the kindle app, web browser, quora, wikipedia, medium, google apps, and many more. Yes video isn't that great (however there are definitely some videos on youtube that look great on e-ink!), however I also wouldn't want to watch a video on an LCD tablet either. The screen is simply too small for me. The Note Air 3c is incredibly versatile device and I used it much more than I used to use my S7. I personally like the colors even thoug I do see its limitation. But I love to look at fotos on the e ink screen. It's like having a printed version of the foto. For me, any form of LCD simply is no alternative. It's like looking at a screen, while with e-ink it's looking at a real object (which it basically is). I really tried to read my graphic novels on LCD but it's impossible, and the little bit of extra color saturation makes no difference. Graphic Novels on the Note, on the other hand, are a joy to read, although the reds are really not that great. Oh and personally I do prefer the clean, simplistic OS of the Note (I think the Tab series' one is a bit different but not that much).

There is a wide gap between LCD and rLCD though. It's no eInk, but it's definitely easier on the eyes and has similar properties of looking at an object.

@@UnscriptedCoding Unfortunately there isn't really an option to try out rLCD here in europe, at least one that I knew. But my guess is that rLCD addresses the light issue, not the flickering issue. It still has a refresh rate, and that is the real difference IMHO. For me personally, I can totally live with the drawbacks of Kaleido 3, because for me my use cases aren't really gaming or watching videos. But I understand that it is not for everyone and I think that rLCD serves a purpose for people wanting more of a "traditional" tablet experience. I also think it is maybe an age thing? I'm getting close to 50 and my eyes hurt a lot with LCD. I read web pages on my daily commute - I would never do that on my phone or tablet. But it's so cool that we have all this different tech today, so there is something for everyone. I also firmly believe that color e-ink will still improve in the future, albeit slowly - even though amazon has joined the game, it is still a niche market after all.
