Been in the hobby for about 20 years and it's amazing how we have gone from having cheap and some very inaccurate test kits and also the old salinity (hydrometers I think) with the swinging arm thing to refractometers and equipment like the alkatronic that is amazing!

Yeah its definitely on the high end. Khg is a great affordable unit too! Doesnt come with app connectivity and control does it?

@@firsttimereefertv1588 no wireless and no app, I control it through the web interface, I just check it now and then, keeps My Kh rock solid. The reagent is a little expensive though, however it will take me 2 years to catch up to the cost of the alkatronic

Mate - this has a second pH probe port? So you can monitor tank pH with it and it charts it? That would be very tempting

I have just asked for a refund on my KHD which is maybe the worst product I have ever bought. I never considered this as I got a big discount on the KHD and it has a spare dosing head (and I dose 1 part). I was going to go ReefFactory but with an extra pH port this would come into contention

@@sunnygoold9449 this already measures your ph everytime you do a test! So it basically charts mine anyway. Ive just been told the bnc port is for connection to apex or ekoral controllers. Ive heard mixed reviews of the KHD but i can honestly say im very happy with my alkatronic!

@@firsttimereefertv1588 Thanks mate - that helps a lot. So smart it measures the pH - no idea why the others don't. The KHD was a massive issue to set up but that was fine for me - I expected it... Mine just doesn't measure accurately. It would work for a week and then (from say 9) it just starts measuring 6.5. Now I can't even get it to measure 9 (where my alk is). I've used standard solutions too. I also lost a lot of acros because early on it went down slowly so I kept adding Alk not realising it and then I Saliferted and it was above 12. Anyhow hopefully I will get something better - and yes - I've heard the Alkatronic is the best - it's just very expensive here in Europe.

@@firsttimereefertv1588 it’s to trick the apex or other controller in to thinking it’s the ph probe but really it’s sending the ALK measurement over

Do you still have your 900 cade? I've been thinking about getting one and wanted to know your thoughts on putting a Blue Tang and two clown fish in it. Do you think there would be enough space? I'm thinking I would have to forget the Blue Tang or upgrade to the 1200 what are your thoughts?

The only thing keeps me away from alkatronic is the noise, so many people mention or complain about it. I heard Mastertronic is much quieter than Alkatronic, so I’ll probably go with MT and kh director.
