Me too! I think part of what keeps me from losing it completely is that I tend to reach for it relatively often. I actually tend to misplace it once or twice a week, but never for more than a few minutes. I usually have to run out to the garage and dig through my pants pockets in the hamper when that happens, or scrounge around in my "EDC drawer". Constantly using it keeps it from slipping away for too long, which is a testament to how much I appreciate this pen's usefulness. Thanks for the comment!

I hit some yard sales this morning and it was really toasty (93), but being a dry heat, it wasn't nearly as bad as it was a few weeks ago (that was just horrendous!). Looks like it's gonna dip during the week and warm back up next weekend. Bummer, as I am dying for that lovely fall weather to kick in! I agree, the FSP Bullet is a truly great tool and such a good value too. I hope more folks catch on and try it out for themselves. My limited editions celebrate different milestones in both Fishers and NASA's history such as the Bullet 60th Anniversary, the 45th Anniversary Apollo 11 and the Commemorative Edition Shuttle Space Pen & Coin Set. I find over time the ink bleeds through the paper as opposed to across the page so when looking back at old notes my hand writing doesn't look as neat as the geek inside me wants it to be. It's not old ink either this has happened with many of my pens over the years. A small gripe though as I do enjoy both owning and using them all.

They're certainly not the neatest pens when it comes to clean lines and accuracy, but I find them to be "pretty good" and the convenience and durability give them a free pass, from me. I have to resist buying and collecting a bunch of these as I so often tend to do with these types of things, ha ha! Very cool to hear about all of these different commemorative and collectible editions, though!

I really like this pen and have a few different models including this one with the shuttle emblem and a few numbered limited editions. The only problem I have with Fisher pens is the ink cartridge, I find the ink bleeds over time on certain paper such as Field Notes, it's a small gripe though on an otherwise good design. Great review as ever.

I think that's awesome that you've got a bit of a collection of them going! Are the limited editions specially coated, or otherwise unique from the standard line? I'm surprised to read about the ink bleeding on Field Notes, as that's my main notebook choice. I haven't noticed any such bleeding. However, I have read that when the Fisher Space Pen ink cartridge is running low, the ink tends to glob or flow too heavily. Apparently it happens fairly consistently and folks take it as a sign that it's time to swap in a refill. Is there any chance that's what's occurring with yours? Haha! Very true! I'm so glad people seem to be okay with how long these tend to run. I tried shortening them a while back but it just didn't "feel right"; like I was having to cut out so much stuff that the flow and cadence of the video was off. Remove that Fisher cartridge and use some thin cloth tape to wrap the upper end increasing the diameter. Through some trial and error of fitting it should remedy the issue.

Great review, and congratulations. I wasn’t sure anyone could keep me interested in a pen for 12min. The price is not really prohibitive either. Some these guys are using $100+ pens. I could never see that for an edc pen Unless I was making million dollar deals with it.

Man, now I wanna get one. I wonder though if I could get used to the constant capping and uncapping. I'm so used to clicker pens and I like the convenience of using one hand to deploy the actual tip. It comes in handy when I'm holding something in my other hand. Maybe Fisher makes a clicker? Anyway, great video as always!

I saw that. But they don't have quite the compactness of the bullet. I'm looking at the Zebra telescopic or I've seen a Pilot G2 mini hack that replaces the standard G2 ink with the Fisher Space pen pressurized ink. Still doing some research. Thanks!

Gearguy619 The Zebra Telescopic is slick; I've got one. They're inexpensive, too, about six or seven bucks for two of them from Office Depot. It has a good weight and feel and works just as advertised. In fact, the only reason I don't pocket-carry the Zebra is that I am nervous about the ink leaking from the exposed tip. It is, of course, retracted into the body of the pen when not in use, but the o-ring seal and cap of the FSP Bullet gives me complete confidence that I won't ever have any mishaps in my pocket. That said, it seems pretty rare these days to hear of anyone's pen leaking in their pocket (things seem to have improved over the years in that regard), but it happens enough to make me reticent to do it myself. I typically carry my Zebra Tele pen in either my Maxpedition EDC case or my work bag without issue.

Funny you mention that zebra pen, I was at the office depot yesterday looking at one after I watched your video that showed you receiving one in the mail. Almost picked one up but I hear that finding the ink refill is hard. I saw something on the EDC forums about using a Pilot G2 mini and switching out the refill with a fisher space pen refill (with a little modding). Might go that route. We'll see. Hahaha the dillemas of an EDC'r.

Nice review. I am very disappointed in mine. The cartridge rattles and moves slightly as I write. Not excessively, just enough to be annoying. If i hold the pen tip, i can move it left to right. As if the diameter of the hole is too large. is yours the same?

I just checked. Brass doesn't rust at all so you're all good but it will corrode so if you're writing in salty water give it a good rinse from the tap afterwards and just make sure it doesn't get too oxidized as that may also cause damage

+Patrick Bateman It writes the same as any other Space Pen, as it uses the same refill. It won't compete with the fancier pens but for me it does a very competent job of writing neatly. If the convenience of a tiny pocket friendly pen is important to you, and you want to be confident that it will start right up every time, I think the Bullet is worth any tradeoff in accuracy.

+Patrick Bateman I understand. If you are comfortable writing with the average medium tip ball point pen, you should be happy with the results of the Fisher Space Pen. If not, perhaps look into the Kaweco Sport or Zebra Telescoping Pen for a couple alternatives that still allow for minimal pocket carry. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I find it to be pretty smooth and one of the best ball points I've used. In general I much prefer "gel ink" pens for the smoothness, but there's something about this pen that I love because of it's look, feel, convenience. I have the same pen, but with the clip...I don't use the clip much as a clip, but I like having it so it doesn't roll around on a table.

I've definitely seen pens that right better than this, but it's size just makes it way easier to carry. Plus with all extra perks from the pressurized refill, it kinda makes up for it. I love my space pen. My wallet has a little pocket it in, and my space pen fits perfectly in it so I always have it on me.

ItsAWonderfulKnife Nah the pocket is just a standard size pocket with a flap over it. I keep my Space Pen in there, and I also throw change I get back from the store in there. I know it scratches up the pen, but it's fine by me.

Pencil is not accepted in many situations, such as signing a receipt, writing a check, initialing or signing a legal document. A pencil can break, the lead can mar your clothing or pocket. Also, there are several surfaces a pencil can't mark or marks poorly, including weather-resistant materials (like Rite-in-the-Rain notebooks). Pencils are great, but they're no substitute for a quality pen in many situations.

+Cthulhu Pencils aren't handy for space, the graphite chips and breaks normally and those small bits can fuck up the very important systems on board. Also, yes all the situations that +ItsAWonderfulKnife said are viable in space beside that marring the pocket situation. Sure you might not be writing a check in space but you will be writing. This pen exists for a reason. Stop trying to be clever about it.
