Everyone talks about obsession with showering... and I'm here like it's a necessary evil I put up with 🤣 Glad someone finally agrees how annoying and time consuming showering is lolol. Great review!

lipsohlips97 omg yes showering takes such a long time every day I’m questioning why I’m doing this 😂😂😂😂 if it’s not because I live in HK where the air is super dirty I wouldn’t even bother washing my hair every day. 😫 there goes 1/24 of our life

Try using a mesh soap saver bag, it keeps the soap dry to avoid bacteria growth, serves as a mild exfoliator, keeps the small petals from clogging up your shower drain and you can use the soap till the moment you use it up completely. You can make it from your leftover silk, organza or tulle materials you have around the house and any ribbon or string you have laying around.

You've convinced me to buy the sampler of the Ethique shampoo bars and I LOVE them! I would also recommend HiBAR's volumizing shampoo bar which doesn't melt as quickly :)

Thank you for watching!! Yes they are great, i am still using them since i made this video!! I have not heard of the brand before and i would love to try because you recommended it!! Oh my -- the shape of the bars are MUCH better!! more 'ergonomic' than the square ones!!!

I recommend making a hole in the shampoo bar and putting some band through it so you can hang jt up! I hang mine up in the shower and that way it dries faster and I dont waste product by getting it stuck on surfaces :)

thanks!!! will it break the soap if you poke a hole there? in what position, like is it in the middle? what tools did u use? a chopstick?

Slice a dry loofah with a bread knife, put bar on the loofah slice to dry after use. Simple and cheap for all bars.

I live in Turkey, I keep Ethique moisturiser + conditioner bars in the fridge during summer, otherwise they dissolve. Not needed for shampoo bars. Bars in the bathroom dry out on slices of loofah.

I ordered a few Ethique products last week and I'm excited to try them. I currently store my shower bars on a soap tray with really low edges so that it gets more air flow than the Ethique soap holders. I also never let the bars come into contact with running water It's been working well for me but I live in an area with low humidity. I feel like it's so much harder in HK because of the constant humidity.
@TheLesserEvil4 жыл бұрын
LilacMint as I write this reply I have again used up a shampoo bar in 2 weeks!! Your advice absolutely works! Actually it must be about the humidity :( I do the same in winter, and protect it from water, and it does last much longer. You’re right. We are no stranger to 100% humidity 🤯🤯 their conditioner however lasts months which is something impressive! Please let me know how you like your ethique products! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I also hate to shower. It just takes soooo much energy and time when I'm already exhausted from normal day life and just want to sleep. And thanks for reviewing this brand! I was considering buying their products, but didn't want to before I saw a review on them first :)

Omg yes!! Finally someone also share the pain of showering after a really long day... It's just additional hurdle before I can rest "in peace" at night LOL LOL Their bars are overall amazing, just that the brand actually reached out to me and told me that I wasn't storing them the right way... hence the links I posted in the description box (which was sent directly from the brand to me). I hope it didn't discourage you from trying, they are amazing plastic free alternatives!😊

a good way to make your bar last longer is to cut it up into smaller blocks. This way the entire bar isn't breaking down once wet only the piece your cut off. Keep the block you aren't using somewhere dry, preferably not in the bathroom.
@TheLesserEvil5 жыл бұрын
Tessa Neuman thanks for the advice!!! Yes I have heard this is a good way to keep it dry and make it last longer. I have a friend who chopped it up into 8 different pieces and end up having them melt faster in the shower haha! I will try to cut them up into reasonable number of chunks then! 😬
@tesdog215 жыл бұрын
@@TheLesserEvil No worries I usually do 4 blocks but definitely don't leave it in the shower to dry out after use. I also find keeping it on something that raised and has gaps in the base helps it dry out. (not explaining that very well) but I am still experimenting with it myself.

Watching in 2021, I loved this video. I have some of the Ethique products too and with the shampoo I just set it on parchment paper when I get out of the shower then let it dry. Then I wrap it with the paper and put in a drawer in my bathroom. I’m trying to make it last longer anyways lol. Using these products has really made me take a hard look at all of the plastic that ends up in a household and how much ends up in a landfill, so with Ethique’s help hopefully that is going to change. 💕

I really liked this video, it was well informed and had some really nice editing in the beginning too! I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers! I also love Ethique and what they stand for, I just ordered the In Your Face cleansing bar so I can't wait to try it! I also ordered one of the little Ethique containers (which are like $25 each... but still) to store it in so I hope that helps too. My sister likes composting at her house so I figured I can just give my empty packaging to her lol

Thank you for the compliment!! hehe 😬 I am trying hard to experiment with different topics/styles so hope I can reach more people! I have never tried their face bars, but after your recommendation I will give it a try next time when I make my purchase! haha your sister can take my packaging too hahaha I literally am buried in packaging at home because the shampoo run out so fast hahahahahaha. I also have got their containers too but sadly it doesn't solve the issue. I've heard from their brand rep that I need to place it near the window or anywhere with better airflow - guess HK just isn't a place where the bars stay. Maybe better when it's winter!

Hello! Thank you for your support!!! :) Hehe. Did you try another brand or Ethique? Specifically for shampoos, I tried other brands but mostly they are soap. (that's why i received a few complaints saying i am stupid and not use the word 'soap' on this or some other video). Ethique technically isn't soap so they didnt give me that soap residue on my hair. But I could be wrong. Perhaps I haven't tried enough brands to make a conclusion. If you're in HK and have problem finding them, let me know!

I've never lived in really high humidity, so I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I usually store the shampoo/conditioner either in a cabinet or outside the bathroom immediately after showering to let it dry out and stay cool. It lasts several months for me that way, but I also only wash my hair about once a week.

great video! Thank you for reviewing the Ethique bars! What container/brand are you using to store the bars? It looks like it fits the bard perfectly!
@TheLesserEvil4 жыл бұрын
Hello!! thank you so much for watching! I am using their bar container but honestly I think any container as long as it fits and has some "holes" for the air to pass is good enough. Their container if i am not mistaken is compostable(?!) but i just got one that i randomly found at home. another thing is I found the shampoo bar less long lasting vs the conditioner, so i make sure i place it in a place where it is less humid. Not so much to do with the container but the location of storage. If I am travelling, i use a Movenpick ice cream box ^^" hope this helps!
@DraconianRain Жыл бұрын
I tried a different brand and live in high humidity and I had a similar problem but I found out you can grate or break up the bars into jars and add water to have a liquid version of the soap. I had to do this with a conditioner because no matter the storage they went soggy or got mouldy. Again not the same brand but still a solid shampoo and conditioner. It made application easier and still worked the same but it was easier to make a custom concentrate this way. Not sure if you would find this helpful or not.

@@TheLesserEvil I noticed that it reacts when I'm stressed and during winter. During summer I don't have much issues. Yes I still get my red patches, but it's small amounts to none in scaling and itching during the summer months. Winter is when it gets bad, but I decided I'll cut my hair short and thinned out. I have a lot of hair and it sucks up a lot of water and since it's long I noticed it takes a longer time to wash it. So short and thinned out will be my solution to that. Once my shampoo is done I will be purchasing from them so I'm crossing my fingers that it works if it doesn't I'll just keep buying it because I love how it's zero waste.
