Hello! I’ve been thinking of getting one for my classroom, but a lot of the reviews on Sam’s Club talk about broken zippers. Have you had any trouble yet?

FYI, according the Sam's website the limit now for the Explorer Couch is FIVE! That's right, members can buy 5!!! We just bought 2 for our granddaughter and plan to get 2 more. The reason we went with the Explorer is we were able to drive to Sam's and buy them (we actually ordered ahead and they brought them out to the van!) No waiting! I did order 2 pillows from Nugget in a fun, bright color to go with the Ocean blue and Emerald green Explorers we got. Thanks for the review.

Thank you very much for this review. My wife and I want to get the Explorer for our son's first birthday. We were debating getting the Nugget, but price plus the fact that the Explorer ships much faster made it a no brainer. I was concerned about the quality, but this comparison actually shows that the Explorer might even be BETTER than the Nugget in some instances. Consider me sold.

You're very welcome! There are people who say the zipper on the explorer breaks shortly after use. But myself and many others who have the explorer have not had that problem. If for some reason you do, let me know so I can share!

How is your 1yo doing with it?

@@TTDoesitall He seems to be enjoying it as he gets older and more ambitious. When he turned about 14 months he started climbing over the triangles and practices getting up and down when I stack the cushions. Now (at almost 18 months) he's gotten much better at doing that. My wife and I build forts and such, but he doesn't "get it" yet. Most of the time the stuff we make is so we can lie down and relax while he plays lol. I expect him to utilize it more as "creative furniture" as he gets older. I want to keep it at least 10 years. Hopefully it lasts!

@@dakotahjadee Hello! We've had it over a year now. It's still holding up well, though we aren't too rough on it. We build forts for our son to run around in, set one cushion flat as a crash pad, and currently have one of the cushions flat in our son's room so we can sleep on it. We try our best to keep the dogs and cat off of it. Time will tell as our son gets older and uses it on his own. Washing the covers is also really easy.

A lot of people in the mom groups who have nuggets are like just spend the extra money and get the real thing - that’s all well and good but 10 weeks out is crazy and most colors are out of stock so it’s not convenient and my biggest want from a comparison was wondering if it’s sturdiness is comparable , I have a climber so thank you again for this video - new subscriber

Absolutley! I am part of the big groups on Facebook and lots of momma's will go on and say "I heard Sam's clubs is extremely weak". Which drives me crazy because thats not true at all. I want to be 100% honest with people, not lie and coerce others. Nugget will be just fine without you buying from them this time. They are CRAZY busy and sold out of everything! Also, this goes for Never Nudes, 100% recommend Never Nudes by Created by Couture. She is a nice lady, in a small business with great products!

I actually just purchased my 3rd explorer sofa from Sam’s club. I purchased the first two at the same time then went back and ordered the 3rd a little over a week later. I did not see anything about only 2 per membership.

You can purchase the Kids Explorer without a membership. You just have to pay handling fees ($18).

The foam is holding up great on both! No thinning or caving in after lots of use. However, I can't attest to the sams cover. I put a nugget cover on the Sam's foam for aesthetic purposes.

How has the zipper held up? Seeing A LOT of negative reviews about the zipper and it makes me nervous but LOVE how yours looks in the video. I liked it way better when I saw your son playing on them. Have you had to replace the cover because of the zipper?

I wish I could give you a better answer but we ended up buying a cover from nugget to blend better with the nugget couch we bought and haven't used the Sam's cover since. 😕 But the foam has held up fantastic. They get played on daily. I'll try to put the cover on soon and have them play on it and I can wash it and see if we have any problems after some more use.

There is no limit on how many you can get from Sam’s now. We just purchased 8 of them! All on one membership. 4 for our playroom and 4 for the playroom at grammys house.

It is surprising to me that the nugget company is allowing posts about this sams brand in their private group that screens every post before allowing it to be seen publicly. In my opinion, the nugget company is ALSO MAKING THESE. The issues with getting the nugget orders out is because they are manufacturing off brand for less money.

I find that interesting too, that they allow those posts.. I do however know that the location of manufacturing, from what I have seen, is different. There is the slightest of differences in the product themselves like the .5" width difference. I don't believe Nugget got a patent for their product therefore allowing companies to copy their idea.

So the kids explorer sofa thick base is softer than the nuggets but not tremendously, however, the kids explorer sofa thin base seems firmer than the nuggets. So they off set each other.

I personally wouldn't. I'm not sure what all is included in the protection plan, but these play couches are very durable. And if you have damage to the cover you can always replace with the Nugget Comfort brand covers or there are covers on Etsy and so on (they are just more expensive). But, it's honestly up to you if you want to have that protection or if you want to just expect to possibly buy a new cover. As for the foam. You should cover it with Never Nudes (waterproof covers) and those should never come off unless they HAVE to be washed.

So they both do great even for adults. We build obstacle courses and my husband and I will climb and jump over them as well and they hold up well! To answer, the foam question, the thick base on one is firmer than the other but the thin base of that one is softer than the other so they balance out.

We have our second on the way and we're thinking of moving the rocking chair out into the babys room and replacing it with one of these couches since we still use the chair for bed time reading with our 3 year old. Do you think that would be a good use case for one of these sofa/couches?

Are you replacing the rocking chair with the couch? If so, it wouldn't be awful for reading books, etc as far as replacing the rocking chair, but if you still use the rocking chair for night feedings, etc, I would say the couch is probably too low for getting up and down in the middle of the night. But otherwise yes it would be very comfortable for just lounging on in the baby's room ☺️

@@karanelson3992 I haven't yet! I actually just moved across states so I have been busy for the last half year almost with packing, moving and unpacking! But I can tell you now! So the Sam's club explore couch foam has done great! However I do have it in a nugget cover just because I wanted a different color than what they offered. So I cannot speak for the cover itself over a year later, but according to many parents on social media who own the Sam's club cover, their covers are holding up just fine. Now occasionally you'll find someone who says they "have heard" that the zippers aren't very good, but I don't see very many first person reviews saying so. And then of course the Nugget couches are also holding up fantastic. They get daily use and it's very rough use, and I still don't have any signs of foam compression, or fabric tears etc.

I like them both a lot! I don't think you will regret the nugget. I love that the nugget has so many color options. I just bought a nugget cover to put on my Sam's club foam and I'm super excited. It will match our play space more. You'll have to let me know what you think when you get the nugget in. Plus, I will say, it is definitely better to have two if you can. There is so much more you can do with two. ☺️
