I want to remove the screws to have a flat area. This machine would be good to do patches in places hard to get to.

Is the reverse stitch just a safety stitch or is it the same legnth as the forward stitch? Meaning, if i sew forward on leather and then reverse, will the stitches go back hole to hole?
