Great Video. After watching this vid I feel much more confident that I can utilize alot of the things you did in songs of my own. Love the way you explain each sound in depth. The only downside, at least for me is when he is mixing the instruments (eq, distortion, etc) things seem to go a bit to fast to follow at times. Great video I liked and subscribed and appreciate your content.

I'm a hobby music producer for mainly in the style of orchestral filmmusic, so a total different thing. But I'm just glimpsing into other genres. I wonder how it is possible to create a track nearly without harmony (apart from the breakdown). This should not be a negative critique. I find it more interesting how you keep the listeners interested by introducing new elements, buildups, drops, sonic variation with filter automation and effects. I will try to adapt these techniques. Thank you for sharing.

Nice, bro! I have one question for music production: Is it better to make presets from scratch or tweak existing presets to make them unique?
@vanmurten
@vanmurten 7 ай бұрын
Hello brother, I think you can delegate the time spent on creating your own sound to the selection of ready-made presets, but you just have to know the basics of sound design, at least in order to modify ready-made presets to suit to yourself!🙏🏻🤍

Awesome. I’ll see what I can do in GarageBand! 😂 Great tutorial. You have made me realize the importance of EQing as I believe I have way too much low end going on in my tracks making the sound muddy. Thanks for the vid. Hope I can get somewhere close to this pro composition.

Thank you so much for the kind words brother, I'm sure you'll do even better! It's all about practice - practice producing every day and you'll hear the elements in your tracks better, and I'm very glad that with this video you heard the importance of low frequency processing!🤍

Thank you for this in depth tutorial, very inspiring. Instant sub. A question; I’m not sure if I missed something but I didn’t see any sub frequencies below 30Hz. Did you cut at 30 and if so why?
@vanmurten
@vanmurten Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words! That's a good question: all frequencies below 30 HZ really muddy up your mix and this frequency is very hard to work with. Your ear will hardly hear it, but it will just kill your mix. That's why I remove it everywhere.

@@vanmurten im also trying to produce melodic techno in ableton and it interests me a lot, im currently doing this as a hobby but if i can turn this into a job it would be amazing, i already started some music production courses, if you could provide some explanations in future videos about the Hz you EQ that would be awesome, otherwise no harm done, your videos still are quite educational, i also noticed you use a lot of keyboard shortcuts, just as an advice to improve your channel, i saw many producers showing their keystrokes on their videos, this would definitely help both your channel and viewers :) keep the great work man

Great video! My only question is with the kick. Every time I get to the mastering stage those high frequencies stick out waaay too much and the kick gets an ugly click. I end up eq’ing out a lot in that range. And none of the tracks I’m referencing in this style have a very clicky kick either.
@vanmurten
@vanmurten Жыл бұрын
Hey, mate! Yes, I know it can be a problem, my advice is to try EQ the kick with the turned on master chain, that way you can control the final sound of the kick. Usually when you're doing mastering, even the smallest details will pop up that you may not be happy with the sound of. It's okay if you fix something with the turned on master chain!

Question, why is the top end of the first bass removed, and then a 2nd 1 is added with top end. Why not just keep the original bass top end, or is the some reason for this
@vanmurten
@vanmurten Жыл бұрын
Hello brother, good question and I'm happy to answer: in the case of this track we have 2 layers of bass: LOW & TOP. In case of LOW BASS - we keep only low frequencies, without applying any effects on this layer to mix it properly with KICK. In case of TOP BASS - we leave the frequencies higher so we can apply some DELAY and REVERB via SEND/RETURN buttons on TOP BASS. The 2 layers of bass are separated to have different function and for better control of the effects. Hopefully I've answered your question!🤍
