Hey Kaelyn, my name is Denisse. I'm an undergrad English major in my senior year, and I've been a silent watcher of your content since your second year of the PhD. I randomly found one of your study with me livestreams. I'm in the habit of telling people how much they mean to me as much as I can. Your videos are incredibly motivating for me. I have a hard time caring about school, and having ideas but not being able to excecute. I have a lot of anticipatory anxiety that makes it hard to get big assignments done. I find you incredibly comforting and I appreciate the effort you put into all of your content. You helped me realize that I don't have to be one thing in my career, I can do whatever I want. Thanks for that lol.

I'm in my first year of my doctoral program and I'm having the hardest time reading for fun and reading for class. I'm picking up other hobbies but I MISS reading for fun. It's so nice seeing that you make time for both!

Hey girl, could you film a video or do a segment of a video with what you would tell a person thinking about getting their phd and also go into your experience and how your PhD works from admission to graduation? Would love to hear what each year of your PhD looks like!

Thank you, Kaelyn, for putting in all this work on top of what I know to be a very stressful period. I am also trying to finish my PhD and apply for fellowships at the same time and I feel your pain of constant exhaustion 😵💫 For some reason, it's reassuring that there are others out there who are going through the same thing! Good luck with your fellowship applications!

If you're into small town folklore vibe novels, I highly recommend The Splendour Falls by Rosemary Clement-Moore. It's about a girl who moves to a remote town for a break after an accident on stage as a prima ballerina. She gets entangled with a cult of young people in that town and there's a lot of reference to Welsh folklore, specifically about Prince Madoc and his discovery of America. I enjoyed it because as much as it was deeply rooted in magical/eerie vibes, there was a definite realistic element to it in regards to the history of magic/superstition and the archaeology of it. The author really did her research! Also the romance is so beautiful:)

Hi there! Just wanted to warn you there might be a tiny part in the Shadow and Bone trilogy that might be hard to read! We don’t read anything from that characters perspective like with Ninth House, but the SA is still there as a characters backstory.

Appreciate you sharing the different feelings we go through as students and researchers to get to that final draft it's fulfilling, but hard

I'm reading The Poppy War too! I loved the first part, with Rin as a scholar, but am struggling with the second half and am debating whether I should continue with the series. It's kind of like the Lord of the Rings series for me - I love reading about hobbits in The Shire but lose interest when they go on their adventure! And I also have a 4:30am wakeup. Usually a 15-20 minute nap in the early afternoon helps me get through the rest of my day. I enjoyed this video - thanks for taking us along with you :)

Hi Kaelyn. I would appreciate your urgent advice. I have applied but later I noticed that on my personal statement one sentence red typed. I do not know how this happened. But I am so disappointed. What do you think I should do? Admission office do not correct my personal statement. Should I contact them directly with professor and send my personal statement to their e-mail address. After admission, is it normal to contact the professor? what should I do? I am very disappointed. Please help me.I trust your advice so much.

I'd also like to hear Kaelyn's advice but I honestly don't think one sentence in red is a big deal. They understand that typing errors happen.
