Productive Lil Study With Me Pomodoro Style 👏 What is Pomodoro Technique & How to Use it

Hey guys! This video is a productive lil study with me in the style of the Pomodoro Technique, a common technique used to increase productivity. I'll be going through what the Pomodoro technique and how to use it, as well as pros and cons I found! I hope you enjoy, and that you might even be able to implement it into your routine when you need to get stuff done for GCSE, A levels or whatever exams or goals you may be working towards! 🙌 x
⏰·⏰·⏰
So, for the Pomodoro technique, all you need is your to-do list and a timer (use your phone or a pomodoro timer website!). Choose a task. Set the timer for 25 minutes (one "Pomodoro") and get going, completely distraction-free and focused for the whole time! After your Pomodoro, have a cheeky 5 minute break (also timed!) to refresh and set up the next task, and then continue for 4 Pomodoros with breaks in between! At the end of 4, you get a longer break of 15/30 minutes.
Definitely worth trying, especially if you're unmotivated or desperate to make your to-do list seem more manageable!
The timer I used: tomatotimers.com x
Lots of love ❤️ x

I’ve been meaning to try this technique for so long and never got round to it so I think I might finally get round to doing it now! And I can relate to the maths struggles of always checking the answers and having a completely different one to the book, especially in mechanics, but what you said about trying to work it out yourself is so true! My friend and I both started the Pomodoro technique recently because we both get really distracted and text each other about how much we need to study, so what we do is start at the same time and that means we have our breaks at the same time. During our break, we will text each other and see how the other person's study session went. Great video Jade you always make me feel so productive!

Love this video! It’s interesting to see different revision techniques - I might try this one because I’ve heard of it but I haven’t tried it before... Usually I prefer to take no breaks when I’m revising because otherwise I become distracted and unmotivated whereas if I do a block of 3+ hours of revision I am more focussed. I take breaks of about 30mins for lunch and dinner. ☺️❤️

I do one hour on, two hours off on a weekend, asides from one bit where I have one hour, one hour off. Starts from 6am and finishes at 6pm as I'm terrible in the evening. After school, I just go from 6-8. I do want to try a pomodoro session, might work for after school as it could be more motivating (and it all fits into 2 hours). Thanks for making this :)

I tried it a couple of times, unfortunately I cannot keep up with the countdown, because I'm such a slooow writer and I take myself a lot of time to reflect on what I'm doing - so, 25 minutes are not enough for my poor brain. However, it was really interesting to see you studying with this particular technique, actually it might be very useful, as you said, to feel motivated and to increase your productivity... maybe I could give it another chance. Thank you for sharing, seeing your beautiful smile always makes my day!

I’m also in Year 13 and I started using the pomodoro technique over the Christmas break when I needed to do my history coursework. Couldn’t recommend it more! Super motivating and it’s really great if you set yourself a challenge for how many sessions you can do a day too. I used and loved this method last year when revising for my A2 exams. It made an 8 hour revision day not seem so daunting, particularly when I was having days where I was stressed because there was so much revision to do in a short amount of time. You can also change the length of time of the pomodoro depending on the task you are doing or how you work best and personally once I finished my task for that pomodoro I would stop, take my 5 min break and start on the next task sooner. Likewise I would sometimes extend a pomodoro in order to finish my task depending on my focus level at the time and how much of the task was left. Xx

You are amazing jade! I'm a uni student from Hong Kong, and thank you so much for lightening up my life and keep me motivated everyday. I have been using this method to revise for my exam in secondary school. Yet I found it quite unrealistic to use that in uni. The paper writing in uni is too long and challenging to break it down into 25 min sessions. So now I'm using a 50 mins work session then 10 mins break in between. And I also forced myself to change subjects for every working session. Just not to bored myself with the same repeating work:)

Hi Jade, my "pre finals" are coming up. They basically mean that I have to write the same exams as in my finals. I have got chemistry, English, bilingual history and maths intensive and it literally kills me. I especially struggle with chemistry and feel overwhelmed by the work. But study with me videos always motivate me especially as I lately fell into a hole of struggling and over-thinking. I will try that tomorrow and it certainly helped me to find motivation as it sure did for so many others^^. thank you ♡

This is a technique I've always seen and never bothered to use, but I've started using it this Easter and wow! I don't really know why, but I've been so much more productive even though I'm spending the same amount of time on revision. Never heard of this technique before, but definitely going to try it! Especially for doing a History degree and there's so much reading to do and keeping yourself motivated in the process!

I have been thinking about this method and see how people put it in practice. It’s good that you showed the preparation and what you do during the pomodoro. I felt reassuring about maths now. As even people who are not natural at maths are attempting a level in maths. What do you do after 4 pomodoro and have 15 minute break. Great job

Amazing video! To be honest,I don’t take breaks ,whenever I start my studying process,I study for 3-4 hours without taking breaks and even without having any snacks😅 and then I take a big break to eat, relax,so when I concentrate on something I never want to have a break!

I just do a school day when I’m revising so I do the same amount of hours per subject as I do in school. After every subject, I walk around for like 2-3 mins and start another subject. After 2 subject periods, I have a 10 min break. I then do 2 more subjects, with a 2-3 min walking around break before my 1hr lunch break. I finally do 2 more subjects so every day I end up doing 6 subjects, 50 mins each. If I feel like like it, I might do an extra subject or two if I have the time or if I have a test for it soon. It’s worked pretty well for me so far. I’ve been doing my mocks last week, this week and it ends on Tuesday.

Currently in exam season at uni and I’m really struggling with managing breaks. I usually wake up by 7:30 and start revising at around 8, then revise until I have lunch around 12/1, then I continue to revise until dinner 6ish. Definitely going to try this next time🙌🏻

I did this technique for my GCSEs and I would highly recommend it. Before I used to do 45mins with a 15mins break but I got tired easily doing this and in my 15 mins break I would have time to get distracted on my phone and go over the 15mins. 25mins is a lot more manageable!

I loved this video! ❤️ I totally agree, the Pomodoro Technique is a really effective way to study and it allows the brain to focus better. I often use this technique when studying subjects like German, since it really helps me learn new vocabulary and extend my knowledge. 👀

I love using this method, even after years of studying at uni I struggle so hard. I have ADHD so study is just the last thing my brain wants to do but this method does help, just having a break every now and then I can reward myself more often. However there are times where this just doesn’t work for me, it becomes rather monotonous so I have to mix it up at times.

I used pomodoro during my gcses on days after I’d had an exam. Just getting last minute stuff that I needed to do out of the way meant I could relax for the rest of the day. Exams take it out of you!

I do usually take short breaks but only really between tasks/pieces of work as otherwise I feel that it just cuts into when I have a flow of concentration. I also find it useful not to look at my phone too much in my breaks or they'll get too long! I may try the pomodoro technique tomorrow! Loved the video by the way :) x

Hey girlie, i was wondering if you could do a video of what you eat during the day and the foods that help you maintain your focus whilst studying? I recently started eatinh 2 bananas a day or maybe a mixed bowl of fruit which is helping me to study productively & maintain focus x Love you, from Iraq🌹💚
