Girl, I'm totally with you about not paying your kids to help around the house. They make the messes, they can clean it up. There's normal things it's our responsibility to provide for them, but most kids get a lot of extras also. Basically it's as you said, we do what we feel is best for our family, and nobody needs to judge. Plus, chores teach responsibilities. Nobody gets a free ride in life. We never gave our son an allowance. We would give him money if he was going to be hanging out with a friend/s and there were plans to go to the movies or out to eat or on school field trips. There will always be certain circumstances when they need money.

Girl, you don't even know how much I needed this video today. I literally was sitting here crying because I'm so overwhelmed with my 2 year old today! She seems to be having some anxiety issues with going out in public and it's awful. I can't go in a store with her or go out to eat as a family anymore because she just kicks and screams the whole time which gets my anxiety going through the roof. I just go out of the store or restaurant in tears every time. I know God has me in these moments and that's the only thing getting me through right now. I love your videos and it motivates me to keep going, thank you so much❤

I love the devotional at the beginning, Marie! My twins are 13. They do have chores which basically amounts to one easy chore every day during the week and then on Friday afternoon they do a large chore such as cleaning the bathroom. They get an allowance of $20 per month and they are expected to buy anything extra that they want for themselves out of that. It is not strictly tied to doing the chores however. And if they want extra allowance, they can also do extra chores for cash. As your children get into the teen years, I believe it is important that they have some money of their own that they can learn to budget with. Teach them to pay a tithe of 10% to God, and how to save some money, and set some money aside for spending. So we are vegetarian, we don’t eat any meat, either. There is a lot of research that shows that not eating meat is healthier for you than eating meat. Addie will be fine as long as she gets protein in other ways like peanut butter, cheese, etc
@MarieLoveAsbury

About the food....girl, YES! One of my kiddos has a Sensory Processing Disorder and I will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make her a separate meal if she doesn't want to try what we're having. No questions asked or pressure put on her. Period. She can't help what's going on and I'm not going to try and force her to go against her comfortability with certain food types/textures if she's not ready. Although Occupational Therapy is and has been super helpful, it is a slow process and if she's not ready or doesn't want to try certain foods, THAT'S OKAY. Regardless of what others will say or think 🙃

I’ve been shamed for giving him what he likes but I just don’t care 🤷🏻‍♀️

I truly agree with you on allowances. My parents never paid us an allowance for doing chores I hoped make. IE, laundry, dishes, vacuuming, dusting, etc. If we did our best with school and did extra chores that weren't on our regular required chores, they only allowed us to go hang with friends. My parents could never afford an allowance sadly. Every household had their cap. We just didn't have an allowance. 🤷‍♀️

AMEN and AMEN!✝️. Great video and great word from Our LORD! As mothers we also have to remember that our children are a gift 🎁 to US and they are not meant to be looked as a burden! Yes! Children should have chores as they learn responsibility through them and it invites them to feel being valued helping at home! WE should always use wisdom in what we give them to do but it’s okay! I think kids go through a phase of eating/textures and what they like! One day they will like green beans and next thing you know they gross out!🤭🙃I have one child…a teen and I tell you he is a blessing to me! I am training him up according to what GOD guides me. It’s the only way in my eyes! ❤Bless you Marie! Your family is beautiful and you are doing a wonderful job in your home! To GOD be the GLORY!💟✝️💟

I never remember, I never feel like doing it in the evening or in the mornings so if my 10 and 11 year old want to pack a lunch they have to do it themselves lol I always make sure I have stuff for them to throw in along with a sandwich. I do have a rule that if they want to eat breakfast at school then they have to pack a lunch because I just can’t afford to have them eat both every day. We just do cereal, Poptarts frozen waffles or pancakes for breakfast. I can’t be bothered to make a hot breakfast everyday. No shame in my game! The way I see it is i cook dinner almost every single night so like you so if I want to take the easy way out for the other 2 meals then I’m gonna do it!

Hey Friend, Happy Sunday. I agree you don’t have to go to church to be Christian and live a Christian life. As long as you’re devoting your life to god and living a honest life and living from the Bible. ❤ My mom had four children with me being the youngest and it was almost impossible for her to lose her mom poach. 😮 I would be so upset if someone told me to meet them for $5 and they didn’t tell me it’s for the next day. 😮 I love that you teach your kids responsibilities that will help them when they’re older. I love that you will help them out to the best of your ability instead of paying them money. ❤🥰

My kids are 10, 7, and 2 and I have been trying to implement more “chore” systems into our routine. I’d rather call it helping take care of the home, but I don’t plan on paying them for regular things like cleaning their room, picking up their toys, or doing laundry, I do plan on implementing a “moms choice” chore where they can ask me what they can do extra and I will give them some money for it.

Girl, I am the same! I never gave my son allowance but if we were out or he knew I was doing a grocery order and asked for something, within reason, we would get it for him. As for his chores, he's the only kiddo (17 next month) so he has all the time chores like every day he puts dishes away, the stuff I hand wash and unloads the dishwasher but I fill it. He also is responsible for taking out the trash and his own laundry. He's been doing his own laundry since he was little (with help obviously). But other than that he doesn't have many other chores but he helps his dad outside or in the garage if needed or he will help me with wiping high areas that I can't reach, he's 6ft and I'm 5'4 lolol but when he starts working he will lose the dishes chore. As for the food thing, I was told the same thing sit there and eat it but with him even now, he has to TRY it and I'm happy. If he doesn't like it, he doesn't have to eat it. Him and his dad like things I don't and we like things his dad doesn't so it works out most times lol

I just look at it like, I'm not gonna sit there and eat something that I really don't like, so why would I force my kids? ♡

@@MarieLoveAsbury Agreed! Forcing them will make them resent you and have a bad relationship with food.

We don't do an allowance as well. My oldest (12) takes care of our dog, takes the trash out and picks up the bathroom, together him and I will team up on laundry kind of like with what you do for dishes. My 5 year old will help feed the dog and clean his room plus help with the toys they pull out. He also will Swiffer the floor and wipe down walls, because he likes to lol. My 3 year old and 1 year old will just help out when we are all doing clean up time. Hearing you talk sounds like I'm listening to myself.. I never want my kids to go to bed hungry. No matter what..

What a nice Saturday surprise! Thanks for the inspo as always. Also regarding chores, I've been trying to come up with a routine there as I've been overwhelmed and don't have a chore chart yet. I have a 5 year old, 1 year old, and one on the way! Curious to see everyone's chore ideas too. I do like the idea of only having an allowance for the extra stuff and not regular, every day tasks we all need to do to run our homes. Have a great weekend ❤

The wic office gave me a chore chart 2 years ago. I placed it on my fridge and never used it. I haven't started giving my kids allowances and not sure if I will or will not.

I love that you give your kids chores. I want my kids to help because they live here just like us but also I want them to learn to take care of things and to keep their own dorm, apartment, or home one day. You’re right about the food thing I would never make them eat what they don’t like. I do request they atleast try things and I also try to cook things I know they all like and if I don’t I’ll always fix them something else. Hope you have a great weekend.

I definitely understand about the mom pooch. What I did to help is started wearing a waist trainer while I’m cleaning or doing things around the house to help contract those muscles and tighten me back up in that area and it’s really helping.

My kids had to try everything just one bit. If they didn't like then they didn't have to eat it. So they each had a different dinner they wouldn't eat. I would buy them a TV dinner on that night. But they were pretty good at eating. My sister wouldn't eat almost nothing I heard they are called super tasters food just taste different to them. When I was young I had a problem with texture. No oatmeal or anything slimy. So I understood and didn't force anything on them.
