A deep dive into the Indian Knowledge System. It’s amazing and makes me feel proud of being an Indian

Prof B. Mahadevan - such a beautiful talk. I cannot agree with you more. I am BTech from IITK & a PhD in computer science from University of Berkeley. I am also a krama pathi of Taittiriya shakha of Krishna Yajurveda. I am still learning it indepth richa by richa. The knowledge it embodies is phenomenal. I think if there is one thing that the Bharatiya people need to learn is - Don't mix terminologies. A word may seem familiar to you but its Bhashya (I will not call meaning) may be totally different. Our ancestors didn't construct dictionaries - they constructed sutras. The bhashya of the terminology is given by the sutra. Also, while reading knowledge texts if people are alert & they don't understand the terminology, don't worry the sutra is near by, just look at the order in which this knowledge system has been constructed & you will find it.

This is excellent talk by Prof on what not to do. I am struggling to find where to start and what to progress on. Requesting such a content please.

@VedaSay: The Bharatiya Knowledg System is vast. If you can tell me what you are interested in. I am happy to let you know what to read. My interest has been in Shruti & Mimamsa but I have learned it formally from my Grand father who was a Shastri from Kashi. That being said I don't claim to be an expert in every knowledge system but I have a decent understanding of the classificiation & can point you what to read.

Enlightening talk by the Prof. He pointed out right, correct way of serving Bharatiya Gyan padhhati is to first spend time, study them in depth to use it as Tool Box to create new paradigm and win IPS war. Neither simply gloating nor outright rejection of our ancient knowledge system doesn't help us.

Makes perfect sense of what he said. Just curious about one thing. Why most us Indians, esucates or otherwise equate *foreign* to white skin people? Muslim invaders who burnt ancient libraries were foreigners, current gulf regions are foreigners to us do they have mindset to discern this knowledge? Do Japanese, Chinese, Africans giving but a thoughts? So let us start giving crdit 2 *white* man than.

Nasadiya Sukta begins with the statement: "Then, there was neither existence, nor non-existence." (Wikipedia). The law of conservation of energy says none is created nor destroyed.

What is the purpose of this discussion? What was the take away??
@badrinarayan9110 ай бұрын
1. He clearly points out that we are not learning from IKS, we are all reciting it like a magic mantra. 2. Wrong marketing is hurting credibility - excessive claim that all modern science is in IKS 3. READ original or academic translations - treat it as knowledge, not as secret, esoteric. 🙏🙏🙏 My takeaways
@Indian-at-heart10 ай бұрын
@@badrinarayan91, unfortunately, the takeaways you mentioned, are all natural outcomes, but still it cant be practiced at home or anywhere. Unless and untill the gentlemen siting on the stage can device a method to inject what they want, all the discuss will go in drain pipeline. For me, there is absolutely no takeways. Becuase, with passage of time, listeners will forget what was said here. Reading original books is something that we all know, but do we do that? No!! Why? People sitting on the stage must answer that, and find & implement a solution. Unless that happens, these videos are jokes to me.

Very disappointing! The professor has not given even one solid example from IKS, which could put us ahead in the current context! And the examples given are also questionable. The Nasadiya sukta demonstrates the openness of thought of those who composed it, to say "we do not know" instead of saying "God created it". I have been hearing of Brihat Samhita since almost three decades. Professor could have shown one example from it to say "this is already available as a methodology. Work on it and you can up with something new". Instead it was just the use of Sanskrit laced with English and eulogisation of our systems. I expected more!

@dharmayogaashram9795 ай бұрын
@@manavsharma1236 in the remote past that was true, but today the reality is that Indian is an ethnicity and/or nationality. Hindu is the religion. Everyone knows that not all Indians are Hindus, and not all Indians are living in India. And of course not all Hindus are Indian.

Today , we Indians are spending too much time trying to listen/read/ learn from wrongs happening in politics rather than learning how we should educate ourselves, what we should do to earn good livelihood, how helping/well we should live, whether we should go in the path of moksha or kharma, etc.
