With such data available, I still have a cardiologist and primary physician recommending the opposite, along with a statin. So sad that the medical society is driven by dollars, pharmacologic companies and politics. God bless those like Prof Noakes who are willing to educate us in the true, data driven facts.

Yep 👍... I know it is important to learn from mistakes ...( I never saw how wrong the food pyramid scheme was ...no doubt due to me being a trusting person and being a teenager) ... but every so often we need to be reminded that we are fallible humans and knowledge comes with not just learning but age and wisdom and missteps 🤓 I look forward to learning even more now that I'm a 40 year old kid 😎 Heck I didn't catch on to problems with seed oils until 2 years into keto/carnivore due to myopic focus on carbs 😒

Wheat - as part of my journey towards a low carb / keto diet I decided to give up bread for Lent this year . Bread was probably my main source of wheat in the diet , and ultimately the bread I was eating was expensive organic wholegrain bread . I wasn't sure if I could give up this bread for very long . Within a few days I noticed that my chronic sinusitis / nasal congestion just cleared up . This was miraculous after a lifetime of suffering . This relief was so profound that it overrode any desire I had to eat bread . Noticeably I started to lose some very stubborn fat from around my waist . This weight loss is on going . I have also noticed that some small patches I had of psoriasis are gradually disappearing . Satiety- when I was eating a high wholegrain vegetarian diet ( which made me fatter and sicker ) I had no apestat . I got into the habit of feeding birds at least half of my newly bought loaf of bread , because if I didn't do that then I would have finished the loaf of .

As a veterinarian, my answer to a farmer's question: "What do I feed to fatten up my horse, cow, pig, goat, sheep, or chickens?" The answer is: "Feed them grain." It works, it has always worked, and it will always work. Why the bleep is my doctor telling me to lose weight by eating grain??? Personally, low-carb diet makes me lose weight and improves my blood pressure and serum tests. Go off it, and I get fat. End of story.

@DrR1pper
@DrR1pper 7 жыл бұрын
Since having been red-pilled John and although I haven't looked into the science of climate change to the same degree as I have for nutrition, it really would not surprise me if it's as bad as the field of nutrition. Some of my favourite (and very renowned and famous for their integrity) physicists have thrown up red flags over some of the claims of immediate apocalypse if we do not do something about (e.g.) rising CO2 levels, some having partaken in climate research themselves and yet are all too commonly dismissed as quacks instead of addressing their arguments. Whenever someone who comes across knowing that these dire claims being made by mainstream over climate change are accurate and I ask them what they think of the critiques made by these scientisits that are skeptical of such claims, then they usually retort with a _"oh they're just some old scientists stuck in the past"_ instead of actually addressing the arguments being made by them (which usually indicates they haven't even bothered to look at them) which flares up red flags of my own in my mind. More often than not, it demonstrates that they do not know/understand what they're talking about nearly as well as they think they do and/or profess to.

I haven't reached six pack status but I've lost over 30 lbs of fat and it's just gonna take a bit longer to finish losing the last bit of belly ... and my visceral fat is down significantly 💪... still binge eat and occasionally get bowel disturbances due to experimenting with eating different ways to force my bodyfat to reduce... but at least I'm only binging on steaks 🥩 instead of ice cream 🍦😋... my only struggle is whether to go high or moderate protein 🤷🏻‍♂️

There was an Academic Seth Roberts (UC Berkeley) who ate a stick of butter (about 110g) per day for a year, he claimed butter made his brain function better. He died of a sudden heart attack while mountain biking aged 60. Butter worsens TC/HDL ratio and also medium length triglycerides if consumed in large amounts. One or two teaspoons per day is ok the body can handle that amount. I love butter as much as anyone but you should not eat it in large quantities, in the same way you should not eat sugar in large amounts.

I developed osteoporosis at an early age, 10-20 lbs overweight and was a vegetarian! I developed SIBO and was told to eat only meat!! I lost 10 lbs in 2 months, my brain was clear and my belly became flat as if I was 18 again!! Vegetarian diet killed my dad and almost killed me!! And yes, we were told so wrong in medical school! Tim Noakes speaks specifically for people who are CARBOHYDRATE INTOLERANT. There is absolutely no point in people who ARE CARB TOLERANT to come onto this sight and start talking about cultures where people are able to handle vast quantities of carbs. It shows such a lack or knowledge of the complexities of human biology and chemistry. Talking about Asian and Kenyans is completely irrelevant here. For fuck sake are these people diabetic, hyperinsulinemic, hypoglycemic or do they have gout, hypertension, high triglycerides. NO. If not go to the HCLF sites and preach your shit there. yep, when you look at it through historic and evolutionary lens you come to realize fruits make us fat to store extra fat energy for winter...but we now have the ability to eat like it is summer and autumn all year round 🤓 LCHF is a great strategy to counteract the downfall of the new world we live in where we can get food at the press of a button on our dumbphones😁... LCHF is an evolutionary adaptation and we just need to get high carb seed oil gluttonous humans to stop and leave us wiser humans to forward or wake up and adapt along with us.😎

Clarification: At 9:17 Noakes refers to the 'vegetable food industry lobby'. This is actually the industrial agriculture lobby. So-called 'vegetable oil' is actually seed oils, like grains (corn), soybean, rapeseed/canola, etc. The industrial agriculture complex prefers crops over things like vegetables or fruits, because they can be stored for long periods, and transported easily - making them handy commodities. President Eisenhower, as he left office, warmed Americans about the military-industrial complex. After WWII, these corporations created markets for themselves by industrializing what is inherently a biological process: the production of food - and direct profit to themselves at every step.

Eisenhower was a GREAT President. Another something that needs mentioning, is the 'Sugar Council', which deliberately concocted and "advanced" the "information" that fats were making us fat, and cholesterol in the diet, somehow led to cholesterol lining our arteries. Big Sugar, like Big Tobacco, had endless money to buy and bludgeon politicians, physicians, and scientists, to get them to endorse the Big Dietary Lie.

Thank you for an excellent talk. Dr Richard Bernstein, in his hugely important book “Dr Bernstein’s Diabetes Solution”, talks about what he calls The Big Fat Lie! He reccommends a carbohydrate intake of 6g for breakfast, 9g for lunch, and 9g for dinner: all the carb is from low GI vegetables. He is able to achieve normal blood sugars for his patients; quite a few complications can be reversed by means of this.

I feel overall better since and my depression got cured! remember to eat lots of fat like butter and raw milk to help with flushing out in the bathroom becuz you either need fiber for that or fat.

Just what we needed to see, right now! Eating lots of meat and dairy, seems to be working for us (I grew up near-Vegan Vegetarian, as did my parents), but this convinces me that we need to take it even farther. NO more pasta - NO more bread - NO more navel oranges before bedtime - NO more cooked vegetables (I suppose this means no more spinach-smothered steamed steaks), and NO more fruits, except lemons and the very darkest berries. Booze and sugar have been verboten in our homes, for generations, but I see that there are plenty of other refinements which can be made. I suppose that even raw carrots are out...

I started 9weeks ago with carnivore, I’ve gone from 87kg to 80, I’m going to see how low I can go and hopefully have my type 2 medically gone into remission. My wife is gluten intolerant (one more antibody factor and she’s full hashimotos) but still eats the alternative highly processed carbohydrate foods, she won’t listen, that’s pretty upsetting to.

Awesome presentation and so much more to explore and understand. The iceberg with insulin resistance tolerance / intolerance is an eye opener. It explains so much for my particular situation. Much more to write, but if you are on the fence about this approach, yes, read and understand more, but the real proof is in the results. Do it, then debunk it. If you are sincere and truthful, you too will experience the benefits and finally get off the fence.

We still have to ask what causes the insulin resistance in the first place. Once you have it, Noakes seems to be right all the way. But why are we getting it? My money for now is on the linoleic acid overload of the modern seed oil diet.

There was no, or almost no diabetes fifty years ago, at the same time back then diabetes was called 'sugar diabetes" in many parts of the world. Then there were no oils on the supermarket shelves either but they soon became abundant as did the sugar loaded junk foods on the shelves. Then in the eighties things began to get really bad with weight, diabetes, well you name it everything began to happen all at once. I put it down to the sugar and high carbohydrate diet but the oils added to the obesity.

So what causes insulin resistance, and can it be reversed? I get that reducing/eliminating carbs will prevent the diseases in someone who is insulin resistant, but is there any way to become insulin sensitive in later life? The reason I ask, is from watching Chris Knobbe's presentation on seed oils. He states that eating PUFAs, specifically a high proportion of calories from linoleic acid, causes insulin resistance at the cellular level due to mitochondrial dysfunction (caused by ROS cascades, which in turn is caused by consuming too much linoleic acid). He also stated that it takes 2-6 years to clear your body of the excess linoleic acid, as the excess is stored in adipose tissue. So I was wondering, if this is the cause of insulin resistance (consuming too much 'vegetable oil'), will your body gradually become more insulin sensitive as you get rid of the excess linoleic acid?

Yes there are a few potentially reliable articles on youtube regarding autophagy and glycation which show data on improved insulin resistance, which happened in patients who markedly reduce carbs. I'm going to stop my statins and ezetimibe and rigidly adhere to a low carb/wheat/grain diet, get a cholesterol test after about 6 weeks and see for myself. High cholesterol has caused me to have surgery, always been on a low fat high carb diet, so i have accurate HDL and LDL figures over the years to be able to make a comparison. We shall see, I would really like to be able to stop 80mg atorvastatin that's for sure.

Yes! You make an important point! When we cut out carbs to address insulin resistance, we need to keep fermented foods and fiber, so as to feed our gut bacteria and keep ourselves unconstipated - if there's such a word. 😂

How did you lose the weight? If you were fat adapted before it changes how you deal with carbs after. Ive lost over 100lbs on both moderate carbs and very low carb and very low carb is where ive stayed for 11 mo ths post maintenance. There is a huge difference in losses and maintenance in how i feel. Id rather not think about food and eat once a day easily not to mention metabolically it has an advantage over the rest. Losing weight on higher carbs only slows your metabolism down making you have to cut more and more to keep losing amd harder to upkeep at maintenance.
