It's interesting how many commentors there are taking Jacob's joke at the beginning completely seriously. I guess if you're not familiar with his drawfee persona then it's not as obvious, but I think it's a shame that child artist would click away from the video immediately and leave feeling dejected. So even though probably no one will see this, I decided to timestamp couple times where they reflect more sincerely on childhood art: 8:51-9:55 12:01 25:11 39:40 I think their insights on the appeal of childhood art are really poignant.

INTRODUCING THE CREW: Captain Moose - Uses a hook, a sword and raw strength. Weak against guns. MonkeyMan Jones - Uses a knife and sneaks around. Weak against all attacks. BigBrows - Uses his brain and comes up with plans. Weakness: His own crewmates because they keep ignoring his plans anyway. Slicer - Uses dual swords and badass skills. Weak against cannons and explosives. Wet Willie - Uses bottles, broken bottles and motolov cocktails. Weak to fire 'cause he's constantly covered in alcohol. Babyface - Uses a knife (or at least he tries to). He's too cute for his enemies to actually attack him and too sweet to say no to, so he gets away with a lot of stuff without actually having to fight. Weakness: Everything, protect this boy. Ballerina Joe - Uses his elegant dance skills to kick everyone's butt, especially the butt. Weakness: Slippery floors or unstable ground. Johnny No-See - Uses a gun and unnatural levels of good luck that, despite being blind, allows him to make incredible shots that blow everyone's minds. Weakness: He's still blind so he's useless most of the time. Weird Guy - Nobody knows what he does. He wanders off to random places and shows up in random places. He serves no purpose but the captain just really likes him.

I'm so impressed with Nathan. Like that childhood drawing is probably better than anything I could produce as an adult lol. Like the perspective, and the lighting?? And the new version is just so... clean? It's honestly a pleasure to look at. Love how he just busted out the shapes, seemingly effortlessly, and they just look perfect. And the shades, too... I could never. It's such a simple drawing, but damn, made me happy. Nathan, if by any chance you're reading this, you rock and I hope you're having a good day. Sending lots of love from Prague!! ❤

On Jacob's "your art style was always there, and you'll never escape it" comment: Back when I was a kid I used to make these little superhero comics called "mystic shadow" (basically just an invisible dude, but he could see) and I used these really simple rounded, almost powerpuff-girls-esque shapes for them. Fast forward to jr high/high school, and I'm doing classic anime stuff and whatnot, almost entirely forgetting about how I used to draw as a kid, but never REALLY being super happy with how I pull off the anime/manga look. Fast forward to now, with a few years of more or less not drawing at all, and I start up again. It's VERY similar to how I drew as a kid, but better. Same hand shape, round cartoony heads, simple arches for the legs- but the bits I liked about my anime style stayed too- eyes were always fun for me, wavy/spiky hair, and outfit design. I never really thought about it until Jacob brought it up, but it's definitely true. You have your art style with you from the beginning, you just need to realize it.

Every day for almost 2 years, me and a buddy of mine would make a "school newspaper" in composition notebooks. We were in elementary and it would be during like free time or something. Maybe after recess? Idk when exactly during the day we got free time to do it lol. We would take different things we saw during the day and draw them and write a section about it. Sometimes one would draw and the other would write about it. I think they are still somewhere in my house and I dont know if he kept is. When we stopped I think we were in 4th grade and about to go to middle school. We didn't do them in the summer obviously but we filled over 17 notebooks. Its honestly so nostalgic to think about them. Like I remember the warm days outside playing and looking for interesting things to write about. That smell you get outside on a hot day and the sticky feeling you get from the humidity after you go inside. Hand sticking to the desk as I wrote. I just remember all the feelings and smells. If you think back to things its amazing how smell is usually the first and most vivid memory. Crazy how time flies by and changes so quick
