I honestly think this could be a decent game if they just polished up the physics engine, HUD features, and fixed some of the minor bugs that are annoying. It sounds like a lot, but it's definitely accomplish-able.

This is how game designers get better. All the AAA developers have had their term making much simpler, 'shitter' games in the past, when it was more expected back when video games were more of a frontier. Now they have huge teams and huge budgets. If you don't let people try, you limit yourself to only what the AAA developers put out. It's all about the concept. This game has a good concept, it just needs work and polishing. Better than a polished game with a poor concept. Take a look at Blackwake; a game with a good concept that nobody has really profited on (mainly the multiplayer dynamic boarding), but aside from the engine's graphics, isn't that great on the technical side.
