The Phantom Futon remains rent-free in your mind. That was an outstanding alcove done by Alex. His work is spot on and I'm sure makes clients beam with satisfaction. We did a kitchen in San Malo in Oceanside. The counter top was solid teak and it was a good darker brown back then. 32mm Soss hidden hinges were used with lumber core plywood for the doors. That was 1978.

As a flooring installer and flooring salesman for 40 years, Marmoleum needs extra attention during maintanance. It is not a self shining floor, like sheet vinyl. When paste wax was around buffing with a floor buffer and paste wax made these floors bullet proof. In the last 30 years buffers are out, paste wax is near impossible to find and LIQUID WAX with a STRIPPER is the order of the day. Mop it, strip it then two coats of wax and it should dry to a low sheen. The stores call the stripper a "ph conditioner", but it liquifies the existing wax for removal. There are little to no gases emitted with Marmoleum and perfect for closed RVs. Love your videos !!!
@HumbleRoad5 жыл бұрын
Bent- the reviews and pictures on the internet were not good enough for me to make an educated decision. I spent countless hours in local flooring stores, touching smelling, bending and wetting all their samples. One manager escorted me out of the store! Nothing. Nothing compared to the Marmoleum products. I was thinking about using mustache wax, what do you think? 😜
@bentnickel74875 жыл бұрын
All joking aside, if I owned a Marmoleum floor I would find a reputable source for Johnson Paste Wax and on my hands and knees buff that with a DA buffer. My Dad had a linoleum counter top in a country General Store for 45 years, that's how he maintained it. Ice cream, Coke, sweat, mustard all wiped off with a damp cloth. It looked new until the building was taken down.

Here's my thinking on the drawer locks, but first a shout out to you for that beautiful aft cabin. You are livin' life my friend! Rather than having to latch and unlatch EVERY SINGLE TIME you need to get in a drawer, I will devise locking system to be deployed just prior to travel. At your next destination, remove the system and enjoy simpler usage while stationary.

That appliance garage is a work of 🖼. Craftsmanship is beyond! It’s so beautiful that it’s a shame the appliances that it’s designed for will hide some of the beauty of the woodwork and grain matching. With that being said there’s nothing particularly pretty about the appliances inside. The doors that could be fastened out of that gorgeous walnut to put on the appliance garage would be far more pleasant to look at than kitchen appliances imho. I’ve wondered about that futon set up. I remember your earlier videos and how much effort it was to get the mechanics just right. The upside of going back to the drawing board was more water on board, that’s a fortuitous result. Can’t have too much water on board. Unheard of 47 gallons on a class B😮, but then everything about this build is beyond compare. I knew when you first started this build it would be fantastic, but it’s so far exceeded what I could’ve imagined. Thanks for letting all us subscribers see what’s possible and dream of owning a similar van. ❤️ I can’t wait for Sunday’s to see what’s been accomplished, and I’m sure the finished van will be epic.

It’s nice to meet your son. Seeing his skill as a craftsman, we can tell who’s son he is. The appliance garage is beautiful but nobody wants to see your slow cooker and Ninja, and neither do you. I’m sure you two can pick the walnut with the prettiest grain and design a beautiful door to hide all that stuff you don’t want to be loaning out😂 Yes, one or two huge drawers under the futon. I, personally, would want 1 giant drawer. That would be able to accommodate all different sizes of pillows and bedding, with room left over for anything else that is long and could be difficult to store anywhere else? Have a great 4th of July😊

George, I'm from Brazil and I've got my inspiration to build a MH watching your videos. I managed to find an aluminum profile that's somehow similar to the 80-20's you used and I'll try to make all my structures out of these aluminum frames. On my project my bed is going to be similar to a Murphy Bed but divided into two halves. Like two half-size murphy beds on in front of the other. I need the front half to slide over the frames to open space to the back part. I was thinking about using bearings but I think you came out with a simpler (and certainly more elegant) solution on your futon frame. Would you mind showing that “slider” in more details on your next video? I’d really appreciate. P.S.: Impeccable woodwork. Alex work rocks…..

I know you are way into the build however I was looking at your dedicated stove drawer and I want to tell you what I did in my van that everyone seems to love. my stove drawer has become the very surface my working stove uses, therefore I do not have to pull out the stove, move it from its home and put it back, it opens and I cook, opening up much more counter space. just something to think about, maybe in the future if not this build. looks very nice, your son is doing a fine job, expecting no less, as where the acorn comes from. :)

That stove set up you speak of was debated in my mind for a long while. In fact I spoke about lifting the countertop up, hinged in the rear to act as a heat shield. But I opted for the dedicated drawer. All good.

Hi Humble 👋...and son! 👋. So exciting to learn about cabinet making products and tools from you two craftsmen. A question: for those age and strength challenged could you put a mobility mechanism on those bottom drawers that would lift them off the floor for easier access? I have seen them on adaptive houses here but maybe only the upper cabinet pull down mechanisms???Would there be room in the hallway to deploy the drawer up? I have always felt that new found spaces create new found innovation and opportunity.
