For the uninitiated, he’s primarily a jazz guitarist. If he wanted to play straight up, bebop slide, he’d steal faces & take no prisoners. The sweetest, egoless musician…I once had the privilege of asking him multiple questions at a local Jazz Festival workshop. Incredibly inspiring, outside of the box brilliance‼️ 🇨🇦

I would be soooo happy to see a David Tronzo solo album! Mr. Tronzo, on behalf of your many fans 🎉 - please do a solo guitar album!

*SO* atmospheric! Way cooler than I expected, and super useful for movie soundtracks I would think. We need to be reminded to extend the range of our sonic palette.

Not sure what I just watched here. But reminds me of Zappa’s boyhood piano with forks stuck in it, or his bicycle violin bow technique.

More reasons why the guitar is such an awesome instrument! I used to fold up a piece of Manila Folder into a triangle and slip it just in front of my Classical Guitar Bridge so the strings would touch it lightly, and create a Sitar-like sound when plucked. On an acoustic guitar, you can also create a light Wah-wah sound by laying your forearm on the Soundboard and lifting it off and on as you play.

Weave a standard medium guitar pick between the high E, B, and G strings (with the point on the E, and the butt on the G) just in front of the bridge, use both pickups, add some reverb and chorus, it sounds just like steel drums!

Tronzo is a great player whose recordings are unfortunately not easy to find. If you can find it, check out the album Fly By Night by the group Spanish Fly, with trumpeter Steven Bernstein.

Tronzo is a great player but that string break angle on that guitar drives me nuts!
