After that battle that ended with the creation of Star Lake, Makoto is now known to both sides of the conflict only as Majin, or Third Disciple. Majin can be translated literally as Magic Man, but here it is translated as Sorcerer, although other words can be used instead, such as Warlock or Witcher. Majin is basically a male analogue of the word Majou, which literally translates as Magic Woman and usually is translated as Witch. Don't be confused if you see Makoto being referred to as a Devil, that's just a mistranslation because both words sound exactly the same in japanese, but use different characters.

Curiously, something that the anime does not make very clear is the fact that since Makoto can speak any language except the common one, he can use the ancient language (that is, the language of magic) in any way he wants, which is why he can modify the spells with complete freedom to the point that they cannot be replicated by anyone.

Yes I love the manga chapter where Emma is testing out a list of improve spells for every element including healing and wind which Makoto cannot use.

13:45 Btw, the dude says "majin" here. In TenSura, that is a magicule based lifelorm, like Benimaru and Rimiru. In Tsukimichi, it's meaning is "devil." Don't get why they went with "Sorcerer."

Abelia has the same last name as the blond noble that was harrasing Luria the waitress from the hotpot restaurant for a reason. In the manga they have Abelia beat Illumgard in another class.
