The fact that Dr. Membrane not only has city destroying blasters just on him at all times that can withstand the power of the blast he created, and the fact that there's just such a simple cooldown sequence after the fact is what's so mind boggling. Membrane isn't stupid. At some level, he *chooses* not to acknowledge the supernatural. It's a matter of pride. He doesn't want to face the possibility that he didn't know something like Zim exists. He kept denying that all of these events were real, but I think he *knew* that they were. In this scene, he tells Dib "Don't worry son, I've got your back.", which is his own way of saying "I believe you, son. You were right all along." I think this is the *real* reason why he gets so angry against the robots. For the first time ever, he was wrong
