@@ribor1 Maybe it's not, but it still doesn't compare to it's glory days it had experienced when Ash first caught it. The main reason why Torterra never really had any major wins after evolving is because it was still focused on trying to be fast rather than fully adopt a more defensive battling style like it was taught to by Paul's Torterra after it evolved. I feel this can be best seen when Ash used it to battle Palmer's Rhyperior as a Grotle, since after it's opponent shrugged off a super effective razor leaf, Ash had it focus on using rock climb primarily, and while it DID put up quite a fight, it's reliance on a move that did resisted damage ultimately lead to it being overpowered and defeated by rock wrecker in the end. It did indeed go up against a number of strong opponents after evolving, but I personally feel that it would've faired far better in many of those fights if it had embraced using a more defensive approach, of which is most notably proven when it fought Candice's Sneasel and managed to beat it, which is also notable for being it's most impressive victory it got after it evolved

4:35 I think both Bulbasaur and Squirtle feared ending up like Charmander. Especially since Charmander loved ash much more then they did before it became Charmeleon. The true reason is they didn't wanna have to draw it's evolution

I remember a very old interview from the first head executive of the original anime, Kanto saga that the writers were very sad that they had to let go of Pidgeot because they had to make room for Ash's new flying type Pokémon from gen 2 aka Noctowl. The direct order from Nintendo was to let go of Ash's old team and that everyone in the creative team was too attached to all the Pokémon in Ash's team: especially the original gang of four, all four starter Pokémon. Then they found the solutions of leaving Squirtle as a fire brigade member, Charizard in Charicific valley and Bulbasaur as an ambassador at professor Oaks lab.

Y'know, Bulbasaur is pretty special. Since Butterfree and Pigeot were released, it's Ash's oldest owned Pokemon. I also like how mature it is taking control of a situation when needed. I also love it's resolve and refusal to evolve being a real example f Pokemon being capable on their own. What an amazing little plant dinosaur. Also 12:10 Me too editor. Hope Arceus is on your side for that.

Bulbasaur the realest. One Pokémon that I always resonated with the most because it resembled the qualities that you want in yourself and people in general. Loyal, protective, loving, territorial. I feel a lot of people who watch Pokémon be sleeping on Bulbasaur. Hella potential, fr. If he was a real life pet nowadays in this world, you’ll probably become a bit anti-social since it’s the all-in-one friend you need and have lol. It’s the Earthy qualities of it that draws me. Green was always and still to this day the first I ever gravitated towards and it became my favorite color, similarly to how Bulbasaur became the first Pokémon I really connected with in a personal way. My favourite starter right from my childhood till today is Bulbasaur. That's like 90% of the anime. Same goes for Squirtle, Charizard, Primeape... Almost every episode was the same. He also won half of his badges losing to the gym leader, but doing something nice that made them like him... A few years ago I decided to rewatch Digimon and was amazed by how well it hold up. I tried to the same with Pokémon and found it unbearable, the first season tells the same story over and over again, all they do is introduce a different Pokémon each episode. I mean, even Pokémon moves, Ash, Brock and Misty pretty much only teach their parties tackle and one other move.

Bulbasaur is my all-time favorite Pokémon, and Ash's Bulbasaur is one of the reasons why! Their personal story is one of the best of Ash's Pokémon! Starting from a hardened protector to a versatile battler and finally to a compassionate, empathetic, and strong mentor and leader. Bulbasaur's kindness and protectiveness are some of his best attributes. I wholeheartedly agree with you that if Oak did not need Bulbasaur to keep the peace at the lab, Ash would have kept never left them. I like to think that Bulbasaur would have become a permanent member of Ash's team and even stay out of his Poke-ball like Pikachu! I wonder how different the series would have been if Bulbasaur became a permanent member of the team and fought alongside Ash and his Hoein, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alolan, and Journey teams!

When I was young, for some reason I enjoyed that for a while in Johto, Ash had both Bulbasaur & Chikorita on his team. I remember him using both at the same time for Vine Whip in the second or third movie. Just having two different starters of the same type on the team did something for younger me.

I hope Bulbasaur never evolves. He's iconic just as he is. If he HAS to, then second stage max. Final stage would make him to big and slow to do his current job properly. Bulba is used to being an agile fighter. Final form would hinder him more then help him at this point.

When I was 6, if anyone asks me who my favorite Pokèmon was, I always answer - 001 - Bulbasaur. In the Pokèmon game, he's my starter too. Now I'm 27, I still have my undying love for Bulbasaur. Team Rocket's losses are so hard to count, I've decided to only include their wins in the battle record lol. It's tough since so many Pokemon assist in beating Arbok, but don't deliver the finishing blow. It also goes the other way for wins. Arbok does major damage, but then gets taken out before winning the battle.

Bulbasaur is very likable and had a lovely development. I think it's great that some writers understood that just like with Pikachu, some Pokémon can be impressive without feeling the need of physical change. Bulbasaur was steadfast and pretty much had the heart of a leader finalizing his arc as the guardian of the Pokémon at Oak's lab. Definitely a respectable character in my opinion.

Awww bulbasaur is so adorable and sweet always trying to protect people and other pokemon I love it, he was always one of my favorite grass types. I always would pick him as my starter pokemon when I used to play fire red version on the game boy advance sp.

Bulbasaur is such an underrated Pokémon. Charmander may have taken his spotlight but Bulbasaur in my opinion will always be Ash’s most loyal and beloved Pokémon just behind Pikachu. I enjoyed his character growth and he will always be one of my most favorite started Pokémon of all time as well as Pikachu and Charmander. I can’t forget Squirtle as well.
