The Pronoun Ci in Italian

Since we just learn the pronoun ne, let's learn another one: ci. This has a lot of uses, as ci locativo, ci argomentale, and more. Let's learn how to use it!

5.45 Why "Sì, NE vengo" not "CI vengo"????

I don't unerstand the answer of "ne" for the 4th question about Rome. I'm understang it as: "Do you come from Rome? Yes, I come from there.". It seems like it should be "ci". Is this wrong?

Kathy Fitzgerald venire da / uscire da/ tornare da = from there ( verbs of direction) You can find it in the video of “ pronoun - ne “.

@@AnnaAnna-hf8gh I am not sure about this. In the penultimate post by Mariusz Zalewski in lesson 80 TheChason in reply says that "ne" is not used with venire as a matter of current usage but is grammatically corrcet.

@@petermercadante630 exactly, in standard contemporary Italian noone would say "sì, ne vengo" in response to "vieni da Roma?"

You have now probably picked up from lesson 83 that "ci" changes to "ce" when followed by a direct object pronoun.

“Li”means “there” or if used as a pronoun (?) means “them” example “li ho visti partire” = “I have seen them leaving”

The Italian pronoun "ci locativo" is similar to the french pronoun "y".
