Professor Leonard I can't thank you enough... Through this quarantine I've learned calculus 3 with your videos and had lots of fun too, because I'm a dork, and because of your awesome sense of humour and the most important of all: an amazing teaching skill. Again, I've appreciated a whole lot your commitment to uploading such high quality math and physics videos that when I'm economically capable I'm going to give back to you through your patreon! Thanks again, you have given me a great example to what a great teacher is such that when I become a math teacher myself ( if hopefully my dream comes true) I'm going to take great inspiration from you! Greetings from Italy.- Giacomo

This was a much needed video to serve as a checkpoint for what we learnt so far. Granted it is very basic vs the real world but at least the general idea serves as a good prelude of whats to come as we advance further.

Professor Leonard, I took the last course of Calculus the previous summer which is CALC3. I've been watching your playlists from DAY 1. I just want to thank you because I've been always hated math but for the first time, I got an A in CALC3. Thank you very much. You deserve the whole world! Stay safe 🌻

Idk taking a tough class in less than 8 weeks online, and haven't touched a math book in years, some people are natural mathematicians, you must've gotten an A in Calc 2 i guess, good for you.

For anyone curious, the vertex x coordinate you get for the last example is 62,500. Therefore, h(62,500) is 31,250.
@MysteryGeek20068 ай бұрын
So H is half of the vertex basically?
@blendibisha337 ай бұрын
How did you get 31 250? I got 125 billion.

@Dancingfish20143 жыл бұрын
Maybe there is better way to get vertex value. Since you did factoring the quadratic function and got two zeroes. We just need find midpoint of zeros Which could be vertex x value. In the example one we have 0 and 300as zeros so vertex x value will be (300+0)/2=150. Just saying, no offending. I always appreciate to professor’s fantastic job. Thank you so much for helping us.
@mickeyp66392 жыл бұрын
sure but it's easy as hell to do -b/2a and you can use it without factoring it in which case you can often times, having just the y intercept and the vertex, deduce what the other x intercept is

Strange examples to use... The first one doesn't make much sense from a business point of view... Selling more of something is never going to be a bad thing. The only time you would want to be selling at a loss would be to get a foot in the door first even when you're not ready to make profit production wise. I think in reality you would want to be solving for the price variable ASSUMING a certain amount to be most likely sold to maximize likely profit. The second example is clearly going to be a square and could much more easily be solved by literally dividing the perimeter by 4... Finding the area then is as easy as that quotient squared...
