i watched this video and at 21:07 i did the problem differently and would like to know if it was a option, or did i just get lucky when i came out with the right answer. Instead of factoring i split it in to 2 fractions. cos(sqrd) over cos(sqrd) and - 1over cos. help.. lol... i later followed your video and did it the way you did it and got the same answer. Just luck? Thanks.. love your videos.. happy to support your channel..

Could we also convert the second example to tangent + cotangent? Write two fractions, then with exponent rule: sin^2 / sin * cos + cos^2 / sin * cos = sin / cos + cos / sin = tan + cot?

@@nathanhawey294 nope it isn't but it will be really helpful if he makes some more videos on differential equations
@Peter_19863 жыл бұрын
@@nathanhawey294 This particular playlist is probably high school math, although a lot of courses seem to be covered both in high school and in university; for example, a lot of the topics in professor Leonard's Calculus playlists are introduced in high school, but they also tend to be treated as first-year university courses - especially more hardcore topics such as Gauss' Theorem, as well as various proofs. The first _advanced_ math course is probably "Partial Differential Equations", which is a rather complicated course where you use various "cookbook methods" in order to solve differential equations that rely on different variables, like for example weird things such as the Fourier Series, the Sturm-Liouville equation and Hilbert Spaces. In fact, that course tends to be entirely based on 3 specific equations (the Diffusion Equation, the Laplace Equation and the Wave Equation); and believe it or not, but those 3 equations alone will keep you very occupied throughout that entire course.

for the 2nd example I simplified it to tan(x)+cot(x) because I separted the fraction and had sinx/cosx=tanx; cosx/cosx=1; cosx/sinx=cotx; -sinx/sinx=-1. then combine like terms give tanx +cotx. would that be most simplified?
@danamcdaniel359511 ай бұрын
Thanks for the great video. I'm just confused about one thing: When you cancel out (cosθ-1) from the numerator and denominator, why don't you need to specify that cosθ can't =1? Also it seems that that restriction wouldn't be true of 1+secθ, so why would they be equivalent?

Is this Univeristy maths. Can I self teach uni maths through this.
@Peter_19863 жыл бұрын
This is slightly before university math. The first math courses that I studied during my first year in Engineering Physics were Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Differential Equations and Linear Algebra, and Professor Leonard has playlists on all of those courses except for Linear Algebra (which he intends to cover in the future, according to what he said in the video "Professor Leonard's Important Announcement 2019"). If you want to be as prepared as possible for those courses, then you might wanna watch the videos in the playlists "Prealgebra", "To The Point Math (TTP Videos)", "Intermediate Algebra" and "Precalculus", in that order. The Calculus courses can then be viewed in numerical order (1-2-3), then "Differential Equations" can probably be tackled after you have finished "Calculus 2", and "Linear Algebra" is probably manageable after "Precalculus".

I’m a drywaller but always been curious about math . When is this needed ?
@Peter_19863 жыл бұрын
Trigonometry is used for a lot of things; one simple example is that it allows you to find sides or angles for triangular shapes, like for example you can use the tangent function to calculate the height of a wall by measuring the distance away from it and the angle with the top of the wall at your own location. It is also used for anything that has a periodic or vibratory nature, like for example music and wave motion, since waves and vibrations can usually be modelled as trigonometric sine and cosine functions. Note that this playlist requires knowledge of arithmetic as well as fundamental algebra and geometry, so if you want to go through this playlist, then you should make sure that you are comfortable with those topics; those topics are covered in chronological order in the playlists "Prealgebra", "To The Point Math (TTP Videos)" and "Intermediate Algebra".
