I'd like to note that [10^(-1/20) - 1] term is negative in sign, so that the final equation for the estimated 1dB power drop point shall rather be sqrt(-0.145 a1 / a3). Hence the sign of the term "a3" shall be negative in order for us to talk about "1dB compression"; otherwise I think it would rather be a "1 dB expansion".

For 3rd order: I think 1dB compression point resides approximately 10dB below the 3rd order intercept point.
