im almost shure that tana talk 1 and 2 were made in the mid 2000s, before benny went to jail, but tana talk 3 was released in 2018, and ngl I think its a modern classic and the best griselda album ever. the stories he tells there are so detailed, raw and remorseful, and the beats are really menacing and heavy, like you feel that theres a literal butcher coming for you. its amazing

Absolutely. That was the second GxFR album I got into, after Westside's _Supreme Blientele_ put me on to the whole crew... followed quickly by Conway's _Grimiest Of All Time_ - arguably the best project from each artist, imo. It's no wonder they've dominated my rotation ever since. My personal favorite Griselda project is _Blientele_ but _Tana 3_ is very close.

TANA Talk 1 04', and TANA Talk 2 09' it's been a long 19yr run my favorite rapper under 40yrs old but I'm the same age as Hip-hop 48yrs old & to me Hip-hop doesn't have a age limit Jay-Z over 50yrs old and if he drops a album a month from now on Good Friday it will change the game #facts💯💯💯💯💯

The amazing thing about Guerrero is that Benny weaves in all these song titles from Tana Talk 3 and Burden of Proof in the rhymes, that takes skills no doubt (I'm still not sure if EVERY song from those 2 albums are mentioned, I think it might take many listens to find out 😆)

Skye! The line you reference at 41:30 about West being the brains and Benny being the star is actually a line that Conway has said before, and Benny is saying he agrees with Conway. I think the line is originally from La Maquina.

Rochester has two of the best artists in this revival of classic east coast hiphop: Eto & .38 Spesh. If you haven't heard Eto & DJ Muggs _Hell's Roof,_ you gotta... after you listen to _Tana Talk 3_ & _Supreme Blientele._ ...and maybe give us retrospective reviews of each! 😃 🙏 Another great review, Prof! Can't wait for the next video, and hearing you argue for hiphop as the most important art movement in history. Been thinking of that a lot lately...

Professor. I'm a huge Griselda fan and I really appreciate your content. Even though you are not all the way initiated on Griselda it in no way makes your perspective any less valid or poignant. I especially love your breakdown of Billy Joe. The unpacking of the bars is so appreciated even to a hardcore fan like me.

Tana Talk 1 isn’t even findable anymore from how old it is and Tana Talk 2 is early early early Benny. Tana Talk 3 however is the best Griselda project ever and one of the most important albums in underground rap history. Genuinely the grimiest album of all time in my opinion it’s just so raw. You HAVE to get to it, Benny had some insane energy on it that’s hard to even put into words.

Tana talk 1 is a lost tape from Benny’s teen years 2001 Tana talk 2 was a street tape he made while still in there as a local legend in like 2005-6 Tana talk 3 was released in 2018, one of the best Griselda albums imo and the one that broke Benny to audiences. Big step, it’s when he’s fresh out the street. It’s cover is by the same artist of machinguneblack, his dead brother as a baby my first Benny record This one the cover is him, west and Conway as babies painted by the same guy and released while he’s famous and rich

Really enjoyed this review. Fentanyl is an unfortunate reality, and I'm sorry for your loss. I too have lost family and friends to Fentanyl and my heart goes out to all those affected by being poisoned by Fentanyl as well as those who suffer from drug violence, incarceration, and addiction. Since you mentioned that this is your first Tana Talk I would recommend listening to 3. Both Benny and Conway continue to amaze and set the standard for the most emotionally mature and authentic rap. The use of jux ta position on TT4 and GDMM is flawless and like you pointed out the flows are always top level. Westside is still my favorite, Guerrero- "Ayo, my dope spot got two Van Goghs in it" and he continued his trap theming from Peri Peri on HWH8 I applaud his ability to paint these pictures while using abstract flows.

"You Diddy-d it!" 🤣 Great review. That line about not being a social worker works in context of the lines that follow it. He says no one cared or cried when he had no clothes that fit growing up, or when his addict relatives stole from him as a kid. He basically says that he became heartless because there was no one helping him growing up. Check out Tana Talk 3 if you get a chance. 👍

To your point: I think the fact that he raps about dealing drugs in a glamorising way and on the next song in a way where he portraits the suffering that comes from it, can also be seen as the duality and the consequences it does bring. The fact that it definitely has its perks, but there is also another side to it. I might be giving Benny too much credit here, but I don't think so. Jay-Z used to do this a lot too, just saying it might be a conscious decision and thereby not per se undermining the album.

She's very talented. I first learned of her from Paul Thomas Anderson's film _Inherent Vice..._ she's plays the narrator, and friend of the protagonist. She had such presence in the role, it brought me to her beautiful music. One of the oddest, wackiest movies ever btw, as it's PTA adapting Thomas Pynchon - definitely takes subtitles, and 2 or 3 viewings, to decipher.
