I don't think there was ever a more precise, robotic drummer that could just go like that. Peart may have been more technical / layered, but I can't think of a song where Peart just sits there for 3 minutes straight playing with the repetitive precision of a Roland drum machine lol. The first time I heard Devo was FOC era stuff, and I thought for sure Whip it was a drum machine. It's not. lol still blows my mind

Fantastic download. Devo was way ahead of the game. Alan Myers was an incredible drummer. I listened to New Traditionalists until the grooves wore out when i was in 8th grade.

I've watched this so many times and still, I can't get over how damn tight the drums are. Just spot on, that rhythm just propels this song. One thing I love about a lot of music from this era is the great drumming. This is a prime example.

5 geeks with no auto-tune or backing track laying it down and blowing away the vast majority of modern acts. I was in Eastern Europe this summer and every (and I mean every) bar and business was playing 80's music. Long live the 80's!!! It's crazy how accurate the drummer is for a live performance.

In today's 2022 world, everything is so contrived as far as the rhythm and sound and delivery. Devo could make a comeback if they were just starting, because their approach to music was so fresh. The way both Bob 1 and Gerald are in perfect sync during the guitar solo and nailed in perfect timing is so damn good you can actually see Mark fist bump Gerald at 1:58. This was definitely them at their finest, probably the last time they were full of so much energy talent and youth. And as other's have mention the drums are perfect!

Intense and sincere. That’s must’ve been nice hearing it loud as f. What gets me is Mark is all show business with the song but when he plays the synth breaks in the chorus he’s not messing. I’m glad I saw them live.
