I was thinking about how amazing Keiko's voice would be for this song, and then I was so happy to see she did it! I loved Yuuka's version as well, but Keiko's voice just has this beautiful haunting timbre to it. She did the same thing with Houseki and Synchronicity.

My most anticipated part of this video is 4:44 when Kaori just blasts off to the stratosphere emotionally. I just appreciate her expressions and vocal choices in this section! She grabbed this opportunity to lead this song with all her might! Since this was my first exposure to this song it's my standard for it, not even YUUKA"s original matches in my mind. 😂 I do wonder if this song was sung by Kalafina! Imagine Hikaru taking the lead parts that Keiko sang as well as the chorus. You'd still need Yuriko for the Kajiurago section though.

Kajiura performers are like Kalafina songs - I can talk for hours why Ongaku is the best song ever made but than - also Aria is amazing and when I finish talking about how Aria is the best song to ever exist I go - but also Adore/Serenato/Believe/Signal/Fantasia/Fairytale.. until I list all of Kalafina songs. I do like a lot the strong awesome dominant way Kaori sounds. But then Joelle, Yuriko, Keiko. And missing Wakana and Kaori. And then - Aimer.

@renklav43222 жыл бұрын
The thing is with Wakana's departure, Kajiura has a somewhat set thoughts on dividing the parts for her songs: English songs go to Joelle, Japanese songs go to Kaori. Was kinda sad with this because there's some English songs that worked just fine with Keiko/Kaori main vocal such as maybe tomorrow and Key of the Twilight, and Joelle would sound lovely singing Yuuka songs and covering what used to be Wakana's parts on FictionJunction songs because some songs are outside Kaori's comfortable range. In this particular tour Kaori sang the main vocal for 70% of the time and this was from the final part of their tour. No wonder she sounded and looked tired.
@TheSeeking2know2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the insights! I am sure Joelle's selection for English songs was for her speaking ability and proper enunciation. Kaori does have a strong belt and stamina and does better at English than Wakana for example.

@renklav43222 жыл бұрын
@@TheSeeking2know I know, but imho back then Kajiura divided her English and Japanese songs way more fairly - and dare I say even better because she divided them based on whose tone fit the best singing those songs. Dividing English songs to Joelle and Japanese songs to Kaori just kinda feel... not great. On concerts where Japanese songs dominated the setlist like this we could only hear Kaori for like 70% of the whole concert. Meanwhile on concerts with more Kajiurago and/or English songs on the setlist, they sounded way too heavy on Joelle (like in the unofficial recording of vol.15) and while Joelle is a better singer than Wakana, her stamina is around the same as Wakana's so near the end of the concert she sounded incredibly tired because she had to sing nearly all the English songs and the soprano part for the Kajiurago songs. I know Kajiura knows what she wants and she cares for her songstresses, but going for one concert is different than going for a whole tour.
@TheSeeking2know2 жыл бұрын
@@renklav4322 I wonder if that Vol. 15 is available to view online... I understand what you mean about the vocal timbre and tone being an additional consideration, and I don't think YK is oblivious of that (I mean, it's her!) but possibly she's prioritizing the accuracy over the feeling, especially since they've increased fanbase overseas post-pandemic. I think Kaori was the best from the original FJ at singing English songs (even more than Keiko who tended to swallow some consonants), but for Joelle it's no issue. About Joelle, she is an objectively better singer than Wakana, technique-wise (timbre is what makes many Wakana fans prefer her), but she's also a jazz crooner with a trained classical-style head voice for light use (like with Yuriko, where she excels over Wakana, frankly). Joelle hasn't trained or evolved to sing lead in front of heavy amplified instrumentation. She almost always sings with acoustic instruments in her own lives and her vocal focus is on precision and varied expression, not power. Kaori is the belting-champion pop diva so she can reel out belts for at least 1 hour without fail. She also has lots of stamina and her mix belt is top in FJ! I realize more and more the important role Wakana played and the toll it took on her voice singing in both KLF and FJ, if her voice was less suited to heavy, energetic singing. Better technique would have helped her because she always gave her best in terms of heart. I think YK can be demanding of the singers and has high expectations from them. It can be tough over the course of a tour.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZ-sm36LjrCErNk This is prime Kaori in my opinion. Been watching and re-watching... A song from Sound Horizon (pre-YK) that allowed her to express the full range of her vocal capability across her range, and have a multi-style composition all to herself. Since I haven't heard her solo works, I feel I haven't heard her fully utilized dynamically in YK since it's an ensemble. Also proves she can sing delicately unlike what some feel.

Miezaru Ude is my favourite Kaori performance as well (specifically the Roman live). I love the range of emotion she was able to convey (sadness, anger, obsession) and how it related to the song's themes. Her TTE3 performance had stronger vocal control and she was better at expressing sorrow during the earlier parts, but it doesn't quite come close to the earlier live. I'm still going through her FictionJunction performances (there's so many) but I also agree that Sound Horizon Kaori was "prime Kaori".

I think it's unfair to compare performances when this is a song that solely existed for Yuuka. No one else can do it like Yuuka so we shouldn't criticise people who try to cover original Yuuka songs. No one in this lineup of vocalists can cover Yuuka, except for Hikaru from Kalafina, but she was not here.
@fv11702 жыл бұрын
@@jerrythemagicalllama I was not comparing either of them to Yuuka, but rather how they sang the song and how well it fits with the tone of the song. Keiko did great without sounding even remotely similar to Yuuka. Kaori just sang it like she would sing some American style R&B song. I disagree that only Hikaru can sing Yuuka songs. Keiko fitted just fine in this song and Nowhere. Joelle's tone of voice can sound light so she could easily sing Yuuka songs.
