@dave-swift unfortunately, now that I have it and I find out that you can't really effectively add audio to the video portion. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I've seen a lot of people asking for the ability to use your own video with audio. Maybe the founder will take note and add that feature... Otherwise I will probably refund it

Hey Dave. What are your using to record this video? I love the "zoom-in & pop out" enhancements through the video (like at 5:28). Is this a tool or something you did in post-editing?

@CuriousDerek2 ай бұрын
@ Chiming in again. I went and looked at the tiers for Fable, I bought tier 2, and from what I can see, it seems to be cheaper than Layer Path. I think Layer Path has more advanced features, but because I usually do my own video edits and already have other softwares in my tech stack, Layer Path might be too much for me. Hope this helps you make your decision as well!

I bought Komodo a while back and my partner uses it all the time. I don’t but they supposedly create SOPs and I see that it automatically timestamps for you. How does it compare?
@dave-swift2 ай бұрын
Hi Dee, I'm not a Komodo user, but it looks like there is lots of overlap between the two tools. The biggest difference I see is that Komodo is primarly for creating video recordings (like with your face talking on the screen in a picture-in-picture) more like Loom. It also does guides but this isn't the primary feature. LayerPath doesn't record you video, instead it is more focused on Tours & Guides. Videos are more suited to promos. If you want to be on camera, Komodo. If you want to use AI to polish your performance, LayerPath but never appear on screen. Hope that helps!
@alexbainov2 ай бұрын
@@dave-swift FYI you can record in Komodo without voice and without face on camera. It also creates similar guides but no AI feature.

Question ❓ Can it be used as an alternative to Snaggit? As a screen recorder while on zoom etc? Can we make annotations?
@dave-swift2 ай бұрын
No, it can’t be used in zoom. You can annotate guides after you’re done recording. It’s kind of an alternative to snagging but really something different. LayerPath doesn’t record your webcam.
@energeiai992 ай бұрын
I see, but I mean, though it can't record my webcam it could be a workaround letting it screen record while using Zoom. My take 😊
@dave-swift2 ай бұрын
Not really. LayerPath only works in the browser. They recommend a maximum of 5 minute video guides.
@energeiai992 ай бұрын
@@dave-swift Hmmm, strange - so it only work "inside" the browser window? We can't catch/capture what's going on on our desktop (if we would like to). Thanks anyway :-) Great review, thumbs 👍👍👍

Yea, that is definitely a point of concern, especially just finding out what chrome is doing with our web browser behavior. I would have deducted a couple of points Dave, maybe a 7.9 lol. Google may be forced to sell Chrome because of all the information it has on its users. I have not confirmed it but, if it is true…

Hey Dave, do you know how long these videos can be? Do you know how many credits per minute? It doesn't appear that we can bring in our own GPT for this.....
@dave-swift2 ай бұрын
Thanks for asking about the video length and credits! Let me break this down: Video Length: There's no strict limit, but they recommend keeping videos under 5 minutes for better engagement. For interactive demos specifically, 60-90 seconds is ideal though you can go up to 5 minutes. As for credits, here's how they work: Video exports: 1 credit per export, regardless of length GIFs: Currently free (don't use credits) Voiceover: 1 credit per generation AI content: 1 credit per slide when using AI enhancement The good news is that creating interactive demos doesn't use any credits at all - you can make unlimited demos. And you're right about the GPT integration - currently you can't bring in your own GPT model. They use their own AI system for content enhancement. Let me know if you have any other questions! Note: The above info is from LayerPath's official response, but if you need the latest details, I'd recommend checking with their support at support@layerpath.com

Interesting that the current listing on tiers only has blurring in T3 but a post from the founder in Oct 2024 says it is available in T2 and T3.

They've paywalled this one behind their membership. I guess they need to reserve some tools for their members. We need Appsumo membership review Dave. Aside from the discount & extended refund window if a tool shuts down, what else makes it worth signing up for?
@dave-swift2 ай бұрын
Hi Jaden, Thanks for the question. I would make a video about plus but I'm afraid it would sound like an infomercial. 🤣 On top of the 10% off of everything, you also get a $25 voucher every 90 days. You also get SendFox & KingSumo. And yes, the 10% stacks with any other discount, so for example tier 4 of LayerPath would be ~$55 less than the pricing page says. Plus is a total no-brainer if you regularly buy deals, or even just a couple that are high priced.
@jadens95692 ай бұрын
I hear you 😂 thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm still relatively new to Appsumo, but I've been finding myself buying more and more tools. So I think it's time to buy the membership. It does pay for itself throughout the year. @dave-swift
