What I love about prog is that a single song can cover an awful lot of ground. I know that other subgenres can pull it off but I really like that in prog.

One thing I like about prog metal is that it doesn't follow the usual formula of verse chorus, 2nd verse, chorus, bridge, and final chorus. Prog can go anywhere with its strutcture where, in paper, might look all over the place but when you listen to it it sounds perfect. Like disorganized but still sounding like everything is pieced together. One of reasons why I love Erra and Periphery.

I like how prog metal uses a lot of creativity in song structure and playing styles of various instruments. Probably why I like Animals as Leaders so much

My favorite thing about prog is the amount of styles that are utilized. I listen to albums from beginning to end so I love being able to put an album on in the car and get taken on a journey. BTBAM FTW!

My favourite thing is that it’ can be so different to everything else, it tends to be like going on a journey/listening to a story, encapsulating emotions so well.

What I love about prog metal (and progressive music in general) is how refreshing it can sound, sure there are some progressive music out there that sounds overwhelming and not that well put together, but its nice to hear artists that genuinely try something new and bold. In that note, this aviation song is a great experience! Really cohesive and well thought work, but I do agree that 10min songs dont tend to have that much of replayability value to me.

I love how prog metal incorporates interesting and unpredictable time signatures, the music is tight between guitars and percussion, musicians are skilled.

My least favorite thing about prog is that the complexity normally comes at the cost of catchiness. Aviations is luckily an exception, but most prog I struggle to find the groove and can’t nod my head to it

Arch Echo vibe. Favorite thing about prog is the re-listenability - it's often complex/detailed enough that you notice something different each listen (and is great for my ADHD brain). As an aside, glad the "pick the plural form of word, particularly a word that shouldn't really have a plural form, and you've got yourself a prog metal band name" thing is alive and well here 😄

I love that prog metal embraces non-heavy music influences to make songs like this one a compete journey in one track. The only thing I can compare this to that I have heard recently is the sound track work done by composer Jeff Williams and his daughter Casey for the animated streaming not anime but still pretty anime show RWBY. Look up their stuff and you will see what I mean.

My dude, have you heard of Pendulum? Aussie drum and bass band, but they just put out a song called Halo featuring Matt Tuck. Should give it a listen if youre up for something different but awesome. They had a similar collab with in flames a long time ago too. All the best mate!

I like prog because of the song length lol. I listen to full albums at a time, it’s just how I like to do it, so song length is almost never an issue for me, but when songs are longer (and well written ofc), I feel like the ideas in the song are much more solid and better and certain things just hit harder because of it. My favorite proggy band is leprous, but any band that incorporates prog elements is always welcome (progressive metalcore lets goooooo)

the only thing that i hate about prog metal, its all the bands trying to be like Dream Theater. I love more prog - djent metals bands like Tesseract, Leprous, Unprocessed, Animals As Leaders. But dont get me wrong AVIATIONS is an amazing band. Sry for my bad english greetings from argentina.

Aviations just have their unique sound, idk how they do it, but somehow they manage to keep me listening even with these 10 min Songs. Really beautiful! I like my prog to be journey, I want it to build some tension, and I want the final act to give me a release and resolution. I have a limited attention span though when sober, so I tend to enjoy prog core. Give me everything in under 6mins please, make it heavy. This is super cohesive, it has quite a “triumphant” tone to it, so many layers. Runs a little too long for me, maybe a little too happy and low impact to make my rotation. Respect the hell out of the craft though.

I usually don't like prog metal. They usually do too much, make it too long. I like songs that goes straight to the point. I don't mind if song doesn't really have a structure, but doesn't like something that takes too much time and explore too different style This song is good, but after 6:15 it's too much, getting boring
