You actually can own a tank in the USA, you can even drive it on roads, as long as the gun is disabled and the tracks have rubber pads on them too, but a good tank that can still drive costs around 400,000 dollars, and the gas mileage can be through the roof! Because a tank can go one mile per gallon

the M1A1 Abrams wouldnt tear up the road, the main points that make contact with the road are rubber. It would feasably only cause damage to roadways when it turns left or right, or if it does Neutral steering (The turret is fixed on target(s) and the body spins to increase/decrease the angle of incoming fire)
