You do a good job with these videos. You are not presumptuous about the viewer's individual capabilities, but you do not condescend, either. I like your style.

Thanks for the video, will look into this chirp software not sure if it’s freeware but a lot easier than manually inputting memory channels .😳

I've just downloaded chirp and programmed my 897, pretty simple stuff really but well explained for those not entirely at ease at playing around with and programming their expensive radios. The one thing that really pi**es me off with Yeasu is the different leads you need. I have an 897, FTM400, 8900R and 891 and they all need different leads!😡

Thanks very much for this, I've just bought one of the last FT818s, so this will be very useful. I have other radios which are on the Chirp list and wonder if there is a way to transfer all the saved frequencies from my 818 to another radio, say a Kenwood handie talkie? Thanks and best 73.
@OntheMicwithMike Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the very kind feedback it’s most appreciated. There is one way, if you open the FT818 file with all your frequencies in Chirp, open a second window of chirp and plug in your other radio. Read from the radio you want to program, and clear all the memories. Then go back to the 818 window, highlight all the frequencies you want to copy and just simply hit edit from the top of the window and copy. Open the new radio window and hit the same edit option and paste. I’ve done it that way a few times. Thanks again and 73’

Hello Mike from across the pond. Thank You I have went to the website and reviewed all their cables and non of them refer to ft 817

I just checked and they have them on the website. Under categories, cables and then under ‘CAT & CI-V cables’ it’s there on page three.

ALWAYS TURN OFF RADIO BEFORE INSTALLING THE CAT ….Usa version If u have a mars mod (wideband open) 857 use the non us version of the 2 choices for the 857 If the radio is stock use the us version

To send the programmed memories back to the radio, the video says to put the radio into Clone Mode and press C but my C says SEND, as in send to Chirp.A says RCV and Chirp says to use A for the radio to Receive from Chirp but when I use A I get an error. So I'm still unclear on how to send from Chirp to the radio.
@OntheMicwithMike2 жыл бұрын
That’s an odd one because it’s back to front. A sends data from the radio into Chirp and C receives data back from Chirp. I’ve since sold on the FT-817 but hopefully someone else will be able to assist. 73’

Mike, i have a FT-*(F (2004) i am tryiong to program it with the datacable and Chirp, but it seems i get an error during datatransmittion from the set to the computer. Is there a need for special settings in the com8 in windows, and or in the Yaesu to get chirp working? i tried other programs to, i made a hw reset, should i do some presets in the ft897? sing chirp would save me a lot of time since i have all settings for the repeaters in my baofeng
@OntheMicwithMike9 ай бұрын
There seems to be an historic bug with Chirp and the 897. I'm not sure because I've not got one myself. I don't own any Yaesu radios anymore. But have a look at this link here: chirp.danplanet.com/issues/717

I have a cable for my FT-7900 and both Chirp and FTB7900 software. I take it you recommend Chirp?
@OntheMicwithMike3 жыл бұрын
I’d use the software that’s been made specifically for the radio first before trying chirp. But chirp is a great bit of software if there’s no software available for the radio you’re looking to program.
@Dougsterxplor3 жыл бұрын
@@OntheMicwithMike I've used Chirp on all my Baofengs but the FTB7900 software seems to have loads of more functions.
