I have had my cube for about 3 years. The power went out yesterday and I had to reset my lighting. The verbiage you used in this video had my lights set in under 3 minutes. The instructions had me pulling out my hair for an hour. It is the simulated sunrise/sunset that had my mind going in circles. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I have mine set at L1 on 8:30pm off 9:00pm. L2 on 3pm off 8:30 pm. L3 on 9:00pm off 9:30. This low light setting keeps my tank looking nice and cool without bleaching my corals or growing hair algae. Only draw back is lights don’t come on till 3:00pm but I’m fine with that being a night owl and all. Happy reefing.

@sinatra6173 жыл бұрын
@@jesusfreak7777 its actually 8 to 10 hours to simulate the natural cycle of day light.
@jesusfreak77773 жыл бұрын
@@sinatra617 does it matter the size of tank you have? Because some tell me 7 to 8 some also have told me 5 max daytime with 2 hours of sunset then 1 hour of moon light ( blue).
@sinatra6173 жыл бұрын
@@jesusfreak7777 the depth of the rocks matters and the strength of your lights. The deeper the live rocks and fish the stronger and longer light is needed. To be honest the brochures lighting is sub par. It could be a bit better so running it a little longer won't hurt anything. Some also will say that it dont matter. Its one of those things where some ppl say this amd some ppl say that. The best thing g to do is play around with it and watch your tank mates they will show you what they like.

The light should be on till about 1030 due to the ramp down, So if you set the blues from 7:30am - 10Pm, They will actually be on until 1030, so that's normal. Did they go beyond 1030? and if so how long did they stay on?
@xBryan6 жыл бұрын
I am sure you have figured it out by now but the moon light ramp up and down is for 60 mins not 30 like said here. If you want them off at 10:30pm you need to set them to go off at 9:30pm.

Hello. Biocube 32 here. I'm so confused about the lighting and timers. (temp is 78 degrees) My original sequence was: L1 10am - 2pm L2 8am - 4pm L3 431pm - 4am You can see by this that I was running the lights for too long and the tank inhabitants have suffered. What can I do, how can I make changes to not shock these poor guys? Mushrooms, zoas, favia, birdsnest, clownfish. My new setting is: L1 10am - 1pm (birdsnest are bleaching out and ?? too much light?) L2 8am - 4pm L3 330pm - 7:00pm I'm nervous to overlap all three at the same time; I don't want to shock and lose what's in the tank. But it seems like I need more blue. Please advise. It is so difficult to find concise information on these lights and timers. I think Coral life assumes the consumer should know the lighting requirements because they give no direction other that "how" to set timer. Thank you for your time!!!!!
@thereefkid25366 жыл бұрын
Your corals are not getting enough light, They are bleaching out/Dying due to lack of lighting. Your full intensity lighting is only 3 hours a day. Corals need lighting at full intensity for at least 8 hours a day. You Cannot count the Blues / Sunrise/sunset programming as full lighting, Blues have a very minimal effect when it comes to coral growth. Same goes for the sunrise sunset. ideally you want 8-10 hours of full intensity, but can extend the lighting period to 10-12 hours using the sunrise/sunset and the Blues, Here is a schedule i would recommend, This schedule gives you 8 hours of full intensity, 2 hours partial intensity(Sunrise/Sunset) and 2 hours of Blue lights for a total lighting period of 12 hours. (Only 9-10 hours of beneficial lighting for the corals) L1 10am-6pm L2 9am - 7Pm L3 8am - 8pm or just follow the schedule that i have in My video. Hopefully this will all make sense to you and should help bring some life back into your corals. Also keep in mind, there are many other things that can cause a decline in coral health, So if the corals don't improve with a better light schedule you might have other issues you'll need to look into.

Hey I really liked your video it helped me out a lot! Just a question, so I have it set like yours and it has all lights running and it’s around 1030 est right now and it just doesn’t seem blue enough if that makes sense. Is that normal? My dad has the older model bio cube and you can see his blues and it runs on individual switches.

Question : so do the lights not turn on at all unless you set the timing? Sorry new to the hobby just bought a biocube and can’t seem to get the lights on only the fan turns on.
@thereefkid25366 жыл бұрын
The Timing is optional, you should be able to press the power button and the lights should come on. if you are pressing the power and the lights are not coming on at all you might have an issue. have you tried pressing the power and just leaving it on with the fan running?
