The Mini key (that works) has exactly the same PCB inside it as the diamond key. There must be a problem with the button, but it surprises me that you were able to program it with a broken button. It's interesting to see the LandRover keys work since they have a different shape and thus a different PCB.

6:43 the blinking it means the car is still in programming mode and you can add more keys and then you have to exit programming mode to stop blinking

I wonder if you could do a video discussing what other vehicles the ews programmer, obd2 patch cable with 7 and 8 joined, and the ak90 programmer can be used on. Since it works on land rovers and minis, what else do they apply to? Thank you for the informative videos!

Hi, i've programmed my e46 remotes doing a slightly different procedure, it can save you some time. 1. With the doors closed insert key in the ignition switch 2. Turn the key to position 2 and wait 2 to 3 seconds. 3. Remove key and press and hold unlock button, then press the lock button 3 times, release both buttons. 4. You will hear the door locks when you release them. If you have more remotes to program repeat step 3 until all remotes are programmed. The only difference is that you dont have to turn the key 3 times, instead you wait for 3 seconds. Let me know if this works for you. Great videos btw.

Hey starsedz i have a question, I would like to know if I can use my original key (no buttons on it) to flip the switch on and then proceed to program a different key fob without having to insert it? So having an uncut keyfob and using it as a dongle? BMW X5 4.4i 2003 I can then save a trip to a lock Smith and dealership. ( I don’t need the new key fob to start engine , I can use the original key for that) sewing this video helped me understand but I’d like to make sure since my key has no buttons on it

hello , the other CAS2 keys from e90 and newer keys do not work on your car because they work on different frequency , untill 2005 bmw use 315mhz and 434mhz , post 2005 use 868 MHz / 315LP frequency . But you can allso change the frequency that the key is transmiting by pressing one on the unlock button once, then press hold unlock button and within 5 seconds press trunk open 5 times and it changes frequency to 315 or 434 and it will work

Yes because this method only programs the remote, it does not program the transponder chip that starts the BMW once programmed

I would get a bmw e46 or any other one that has a key to start it and i would get a mini key and cut the blade to fit the bmw and program it so basically you have a bmw with a mini key and you are basically hidden

Programming the remote doesn't program the key to start the car. My AK90+ video shows how to program to start the car if you have EWS.

My key did not lock the door initially. So, I followed your procedure exactly. Now the open button is not working either. Actually, after holding down the open key and pressing the close key three times my top opens up, I repeated the procedure many other times to no avail. So, what's going on?

Yes it likely well, whether it uses a built in remote key or the separate keyless clicker I don't know. Try calling a BMW dealership and with your VIN ask about getting a new key.

I don't think the frequency on an OEM key can be changed like the aftermarket version.

When you do a programming, it will forget all the previously programmed keys that was not included in the programming. All keys need to be programmed together at the same time.

The blade does not have to be cut to be programmed. How do you try to program the key?

@@traveswilliamson2012 Try pressing the lock button 5 times instead of three. If this doesn't work, it might be the wrong key. If you have a diamond key that says "LX8 FXV" you need an EWS key. If the listing said CAS then you have the wrong key. If the back of the diamond key doesn't say LX8 FZV then you have a CAS key and that remote can't be programmed yourself. Lastly if the BMW was sold in the US market you need a 315mhz key, if the listing says 433mhz that's the wrong key. Let me know if this fixes the issue

Either you need a 433mhz frequency key or you have a CAS vehicle not EWS. What year is the e46?

@@chillstore9466 You might have a European 433mhz BMW. Some aftermarket keys can have the frequency changed. Hold the unlock button and press the trunk button 5 times very fast. Try programming the key after that. It might be easier if you open the key shell and press the buttons on the chip to change the frequency.

It should say on the back of the key. USA market keys are 315mhz

if you have a key like his original key you can change the frequency very easily and the frequency's are 315mhz ask and 433mhz ask so if you don't have a frequency counter then you can try to add the key if it does not work then change the frequency and try again .... i have made a video on how to change the frequency on BMW and HONDA remotes ..

@@nicoleyescas383 I am not sure about the garage programming, my BMW does not have this and I assume that programming process is different. This might be in the owner's manual. Yes, an uncut remote key can be programmed like this video and the remote will work as long as it's compatible with the BMW.
