Queen II is my favourite and a definite S tier record. Proggy, heavy and not reliant on anthems, which makes it a stronger actual album IMHO.

I saw their last 4 American tours, ending permanently the Hot Space disaster. I was 13 when Night At the Opera came out. 80s Queen was a pop Euro band, which is why Alberto loves that stuff.

I like Geoff's comments about Hot Space - I'd have it in C, too, and I agree with everything he says about it, particularly about Freddie's vocals, which are outstanding on the album. I'd put it at the lower end of Queen's output, but I still kinda like it, and I'd put it easily above The Miracle, A Kind of Magic and Flash Gordon. I might even put it above Jazz, too - which most people probably won't agree with.

Yes yes yes man am I happy to see you reviewing and ranking the albums of my favourite band and the band that introduced to all different styles of music and to me although they stand out as a rock band to me can be put in the progressive category. But Steven Wilson on his podcast summed up Queen very well they were a singles band.

Queen would be one of the most difficult bands for me to rank their albums. They may be the greatest band of all time that has no perfect album. Every album has some really really great songs but every album has some schlock

Some brief commentary before I unveil my personal tier rankings. Firstly, great show! For me, personally, the magic of Queen ended after The Game. I'm just a huge fan of their golden era, and don't have much use for what followed. Hot Space was a hard left turn that displeased many fans. The response resulted in The Works, which was to an extent an attempt at their return to form. But in my opinion, they were never able to pull it off. My rankings will be controversial to many, but that's fine by me. A note about Jazz. In watching quite a few Queen album ranking videos, this one seems to be one of the most divisive. That being said, it is my favorite. S Jazz, The Game, A Night at the Opera A News of the World, A Day at the Races, Queen II B Queen, Sheer Heart Attack And flush the rest.

Jazz is my favourite. It's S for me but I would settle for A. They are all at least A up to Jazz. II and Sheer are S. Flash is an exceptional soundtrack. Also A. Don't lose your head is fantastic. The Works doesn't do anything interesting? Wtf? In fact it's an A. SO THERE! Hot Space :Staying Power and Action This Day are awesome live at The Bowl. Cool Cat is a brilliant track. I think Body Language and Back Chat are the only week tracks IMO. QUEEN died when Freddie did. Not interested in them without him.

Major fact checking is necessary. Night At the Opera was recorded on a 24 track machine! Not a 4 track. Sgt. Pepper was famously recorded on a pair of 4 track machines. By 1975, 24 track was commonly used in most major studios, including all of the studios Queen used to record this album. All of the layering on Night at the Opera could never be done on a 4 track machine without loss of fidelity and tape hiss creeping in all over the place. 4 tracks analog (eye roll). Come on!

However, Queen II has always been my least favorite of their albums, and I get a LOT of flack for that opinion. So I came here to see where you guys put it. Oh man, things where going so well until you elevated Innuendo to superior. I'm Going Slightly Mad in itself relegates the album to the dustbin, it's the worst song they ever wrote, just terrible and apart from the title track the others arnt much better. To rate it better than Queen 2 & Day At The Races is poor judgement. Anyway, fun show as always and hope to see more 'Rock Wheel' shows! Maybe bands that have some prog epics in their cannons-Led Zep, Uriah Heep, Led Zep, Utopia etc. Will be seeing Alberto on the UK leg of the tour!

Queen are a band that should have released an album every two years. Well, at least in the 70s. Most of their albums are only half great. Can you imagine how great the Queen albums would have been if their best tracks from consecutive years had been on a single album. Hey, that could be a good subject to talk about.
