Wow James !!!! I'm so blown away by this project! You really hit the mark with all these pieces that you're gonna do up the car with! Very trendy with what you're doing to it making it a modern street rod! You got all the right pieces!! For such a prestigious Mo par and exotic sports car modeler, there's nothing you can't build!!!! Heres a couple of tips for the snags you hit during the mock up. I would suggest using chrome sprue to lengthen the chrome corvette exhaust. You can precariously cut the sprue where it would "hide" from the rear of the muffler(s) going all the way into the back of the exhaust tips and you won't see any modifications that you would''ve done. The other is get rid of the old rear end and the torque tube set up and if you have it , go into Revells 32 ford kits and steal the 9" Ford rear end with the modern chrome trailing arms and coil over shocks and install it on the 40 Ford chassis. This should be a breeze and would not be time consuming to install and you'll have a modern rear suspension that will go along with the rest of the cars modern theme considering that this is a quick build with a January deadline. Sorry for the language but you'll " kill 2 birds with one stone" on this project! You're gonna win!!! I can tell!!!
@ScaleModelExperiment3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips and support Ray! I think I do have some parts from a 32 Ford I can use. I’ll see if the suspension is in there. I’m sure Tom Kren would have what I need if I don’t. 😁. I have another project in the works that is directed right at you bud! I’ll unveil it in a week or so.
@MileHighScaleModeler3 жыл бұрын
This will be a very neat build! Solder wire may do the trick in building your headers which will allow you to have short exhaust tips under the chassis like how Fred Henry builds his pro street models or it could allow you to build exhaust pipes to the sides of the body right before the wheel wells. However you build this, it will be very nice based on all your other builds.
@ScaleModelExperiment3 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud for watching. I’ll run some kind of exhaust eventually. I just need to get hacking on the chassis to get the motor into place first.

Your really taking an interesting approach to this project. I think I would have to do something with that rear suspension. Maybe just transplant a rear suspension from a NASCAR kit. With the exhaust, what about lengthening the middle of the Corvette exhaust to let it end after the rear wheels, or shortening it so it ends before the rear wheels. Either way would work and be appropriate.
@ScaleModelExperiment3 жыл бұрын
That’s a good idea Michael. I’ll check the parts box for some suspension that will fit without too much surgery.
@michaelcooke25593 жыл бұрын

The 40-; Ford coupe like this is one of the first model cars I ever got to stand on, when I was young yet, my uncle let me try standing on older ones, just to see if I could and was light enough not to break them. Also was very fun to see and try it! He always video recorded it when we did it and watch it back over & over. This one was probably one of the strongest ones I ever came across. Besides a few old muscle cars with lots of roof posts. Sorry, That concept you have is really neat-looking! New subscriber here, Mary

Thanks for watching Mary! I would cringe to watching someone stand on a car these days… they simply couldn’t take it. I appreciate your support👍

@@ScaleModelExperiment Haha, ya, It's harder for me now because I'm older, but still, the prices of them, and new ones these days is redickyouless! I mostly just get junky crap that's not worth saving now a days, I still love doing it so much! And for sure! Your amazing!

@@ScaleModelExperiment OH, I came back here because of my email notification, butt I see I must have hit the wrong thumb!!! It was down! So I turned it UP! I'm sorry (if you noticed that!) I actually liked it! I was also wondering if you meant that you would "cringe" because you would not like to see a model car crushed, OR if you meant that you WOULD want to watch me try it, but that you would know it would break no matter what, (and it gets broke, even if it's the roof posts) because all these "newer" kits these days have such cheap & soft plastic? ? ? If it's the ladder then yes, you're right, the older models had much better and stronger plastic. The revels were VERY fragile tho, and they would shatter into pieces and not 'crush' good like a real car would. I also remember him see if a 69 dodge super bee coupe model was strong enough to hold me up (under one foot square on the roof trying hard not to crush it), and when I did it held me for a good long time to! Must have been 2 or 3 minutes! he keppt saying to me that I can get off of it now! Then when I did finally got off of it, we examined it and it was bot even cracked! That was so cool! lol, I guess you can call doing that an "experiment' huh? I just thought of that!

I hadn’t considered ghost flames. Even. Pearl coat over the same color would do the same effect. Subtle but cool.
