Very good tips. One more tip, which is not very technical but very important, defend with your hearts! Like those Italian defenders, like you are the last warrior that the opponent needs to get through.. Have confidence in your defending, it is a natural skill, unlike attacking.. Defending is the heavy-load work of soccer, the bloody work, it is the job of hard and rough guys who have strong warrior hearts... Look at Godin... I'm a forward or midfield player but i've played defense a few times, and it turned out really fun once I put the mindset and accepted my role as a defender...Defense is the backbone of the team...without defense you will always lose.. Be that wall!

Basically my story i wasn't doing to great until i actually accepted my role and just stayed in the mindset that my team needs me and that if i don't try my best we will be weak (right now i'm a lonewolf at defense and need to teach some techniques to the other guys but i'm still able to carry the defense all on my back)

As a defensive player, I learned about how to attack. I figured out what the best way to get past a defender because I was one and that helped me learn how to play offense. A tip is to notice the direction of the hips of the defender. As an attacking player, you want to go the opposite way of the defender's hips because this is the way that he will take the most time to get in position after reacting.

Can you do a video on size? I'm a thicker and taller player and I always keep the right mental state but some times I have coaches that will doubt me first look and it kinda turns me off. Through out every week I eat very healthy and get more than an hour of intense physical activity everyday. And my skill is all there I play as all positions too. Please explain that you don't need to have the perfect cut body to have amazing skills.

Same here, i am naturally skinny and have not been accepted by my caoches when they first saw me and told them i play defender they laughed and but me on the bench. In a friendly match against a team they put me in and i played great now ever since that game i have been playing more and more time. Next thing you know i am starter and the coach has told me i am probobly the best defender he has seen as a coach.

Great instruction. Most non contact ACL injuries in soccer happen while defending. Your tips of staying low, light on your feet, etc..., go a long way toward preventing these types of injuries.
